"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Chapter 199: Yatogami Miku? She's Just a Songstress!
High school classes were as mind-numbing as ever. Shuo Nangong slouched at his desk, thumb flicking across his phone as he tapped into the local internet.
He thought about streaming some shows, maybe catching up on a novel. But after a moment's boredom, he ditched entertainment altogether and started digging for anything interesting happening in this world.
Nothing. News after news—dull, irrelevant, not a single headline worth his attention.
He was about to fire up a game when something caught his eye.
A name, buried in a trending article, made him sit up.
"Looks like it's time for me to save another lost girl," he muttered, grinning as he slipped into hacker mode and started working his digital magic.

Meanwhile, in a lavish mansion, Yatogami Miku sat cross-legged on a velvet sofa, sipping tea with practiced grace.
She unlocked her phone, and the trending news immediately grabbed her attention.
"Shocking! The truth behind idol Tsukino Yoru's scandal two years ago finally revealed!"
"Shocking! Tengu City man dies after assaulting a hornet's nest for kicks—is this depravity or madness?"
"Shocking! Investigation finds the hornet's nest victim was the TV producer who spread rumors about Tsukino Yoru!"
"…"
Crash!
Miku's violet-silver eyes widened in disbelief. Her hand flew to her mouth, and her teacup shattered against the floor—she didn't even notice.
She stared at the headlines, heart pounding, unable to believe what she was reading.
With trembling fingers, she tapped one of the news stories.
Surveillance footage played—a little blurry, but she recognized the man instantly.
Him. The producer who'd tried to blackmail her two years ago.
The one who'd ruined her career.
"He's… dead?" she whispered.
Frantic now, she clicked the top headline.
Someone had posted a detailed exposé under Tsukino Yoru's old account, outlining the truth behind the scandal and attaching solid evidence.
Her breath quickened.
That nightmare—she'd spent years trying to forget it.
Now, someone was fighting to clear her name.
After a long hesitation, she logged into the account that had once brought her nothing but pain and despair.
Username: Tsukino Yoru
Just as the news said, there was a long comment under her latest post.
Username: The Man Who Saves A Million Fallen Girls!
Miku froze.
Who on earth would pick such a ridiculous username?
She clicked into his profile, finding a personal motto:
"I'm not a playboy—my heart just shattered into a thousand pieces, and every piece fell in love with someone different."
Her lips twitched.
What a clown.
She couldn't help but mentally roast him: Classic scumbag.
She scrolled through her messages—he'd sent her a DM, too.
Complimented her voice.
Asked if she'd collaborate on a song.
Miku hesitated, then replied:
"Why… why would you want to work with a singer whose reputation is in tatters?"
On the other end, Shuo was about to doze off when her reply pinged in. He shot back instantly.
Miku opened his message:
"Because your voice gives people hope and beauty. I never believed you were that kind of person."
She stared at the screen, a strange warmth blooming in her chest.
Two years.
No one had defended her, let alone believed in her.
And this was a stranger—someone who didn't know her at all.
Suppressing her emotions, she typed:
"Can I ask you something? Compared to today's top idol Yatogami Miku, whose voice do you think is better?"
Oh, hell.
That was a trap if he'd ever seen one.
Tsukino Yoru and Yatogami Miku were both her. Did she think he didn't know?
Was she trying to trip him up?
Shuo nearly cursed aloud.
There was no right answer.
So, following the sacred law of "better them than me," he decided to throw Yatogami Miku under the bus.
He replied:
"Yatogami Miku? She's just a songstress. She doesn't even deserve to be compared to you!"
On the other end, Miku read the message.
Her eyelid twitched.
A vein pulsed on her forehead.
Her eyes flashed with fury—and something else.
But her curiosity about this guy only grew. She typed again:
"What would you do if you met Yatogami Miku in person?"
Shuo raised an eyebrow, grinning as he typed:
"Tch, that Yatogami Miku—if she ever shows up in Tengu City, she'd better hope I don't catch her. She won't get off easy!"
Miku read that and nearly ground her teeth to dust.
She swore she'd find this guy—if only to teach him a lesson.
Her reply came quick:
"Fine. I'll collaborate with you. I'm in Tengu City right now. Let's set a time to meet."
"No problem!" Shuo replied, sending over two tracks: "Confession of Tears" and "Crimson Lotus."
Miku opened the files, hit play—and found herself humming along, swept up by the melodies.
These songs blew everything else out of the water.
Each note tugged at something deep inside her.
Who was this guy, anyway?
What kind of genius could write songs like these?
She paused, trying to act reserved, and typed:
"You just send me your songs like this? Aren't you afraid I'll take them and refuse to work with you?"
"I trust you. You wouldn't do that," Shuo replied.
"Damn! This… this guy!"
Even knowing he might be a scumbag, Miku felt her heart stir.
No one had ever believed in her like this before.
The scandal had wrecked her reputation, left her alone and hopeless.
If he'd been there in her darkest hour—maybe she wouldn't have become a Spirit at all…
But now?
Now she was stronger.
Now her voice was more beautiful than ever.
