Human Torch's figure hovered in mid-air, his whole body's flames so fierce they almost melted the surrounding air, carrying a suffocating sense of oppression. He folded his arms across his chest, a smug smile on his lips, golden flames surging behind him, dazzling like a crown of fire. His gaze, full of utter disdain, looked down at Eddie from above, as if admiring a comical failure.
"You know what?" Human Torch's voice exploded in the air, filled with obvious pride and contempt, "I always thought fighting would be an interesting thing, especially for someone perfect like me. But you things—" He raised an eyebrow slightly, flicked a finger, and a small flame shot towards the ground, exploding with a bang into a charred pit, "are truly too disappointing."
Eddie leaned against a piece of rubble, panting heavily, Venom clinging tightly to him, its black surface glistening. Venom's voice was low, with a hint of anxiety: "He's unbelievably arrogant. We need a plan, or we'll be roasted into two pieces of charcoal."
Eddie narrowed his eyes, staring at the swaggering Human Torch in the air, but a slight smile played on his lips: "Relax, I have a plan."
"A plan that isn't suicidal, right?" Venom's grotesque face emerged from Eddie's shoulder, muttering.
"Listen to me, we need to stall him." Eddie's voice lowered, a hint of calculation in his eyes, "This guy is too engrossed in his own performance, we can use his weakness."
"Use? He's a giant fireball right now, how do you plan to use him?"
Eddie grinned, pointed at Human Torch, and whispered: "Let him get more into it. The more he shows off, the more flaws he'll expose."
Venom was silent for a second, then roared with laughter: "Good, I like this idea. So how do you plan to stall him?"
Eddie lifted his chin: "Simple, we make him talk more."
Human Torch in the air seemed completely immersed in his own World. He slowly spread his arms, flames flowing over him like molten metal. He said in a self-obsessed tone: "You ants will never understand what it feels like to stand at the peak. Look at me—perfect flame, an untouchable god. I am not just a symbol of power, but the embodiment of art!"
He gently wiggled his fingers, and flames formed a burning Rose in the air, then quickly withered into ash. He looked down at Eddie, adding with a cold laugh: "And you, are just insignificant embellishments."
Venom's voice echoed in Eddie's mind: "He really is drunk on himself."
"That's the key to our victory." Eddie smiled slightly, looked up at Human Torch, and deliberately called out in a tired tone: "Wow, I have to say, your performance is really... uh, spectacular."
Human Torch's movement paused, then he laughed triumphantly. He slowly descended a little, his flames still intense, but a teasing expression appeared on his face.
"You finally realized your insignificance?" Human Torch lightly manipulated the flames in his hand, "But I can understand, for a low-level creature like you, witnessing my full power is already a gift from the heavens."
Venom muttered in a low voice: "His narcissism makes me want to puke."
"Shh." Eddie gestured for Venom to be quiet, then looked up again, forcing a wry smile, "Maybe, but I'm still very curious, why do you choose to burn so... intensely? Don't you get tired?"
Human Torch sneered, raised his hand and casually threw a ball of flame into the distance, his tone full of superiority: "Tired? How could I be! Flame is my life, it keeps me from ever weakening. Lowly existences like you wouldn't understand the purity of this power."
While attracting his attention, Eddie slightly shifted his steps, moving closer to a larger piece of metal debris. His voice was filled with deliberate flattery: "Indeed, I've never seen such dazzling flames. No wonder you think you're a work of art."
Upon hearing this, Human Torch tilted his head back triumphantly, and the flames suddenly shot up. His hands danced in the air, the scorching heat waves making the surrounding air thick. He said in an exaggerated tone: "A work of art? No, I am an existence beyond art. Every movement, every wisp of flame, is a miracle of the World."
Taking advantage of Human Torch's self-absorbed boasting, Eddie quickly used Venom's tendrils to throw the metal debris forward, laying out a defense line for the next action.
Venom's voice was filled with excitement: "How exactly do you plan to end this show?"
"Wait till he gets a little closer, then give him a special surprise." Eddie said in a low voice.
Human Torch's gaze fell on Eddie, seemingly noticing his actions. He slowly lowered his altitude, his flames surging, and his tone became more disdainful: "Still struggling pointlessly? It seems I need to teach you what true despair is."
He lowered his head slightly, his eyes filled with condescending indifference. He raised one hand, his fingers slowly pointing at Eddie and Venom, a mocking smile playing on his lips.
"Kneel," he said in an utterly arrogant tone, his voice carrying undeniable pressure, "And then, die."
As the last word fell, he suddenly swung his hand, and the flames instantly condensed into a giant whip of fire, heading straight for Eddie with a thunderous roar. The air was seared and painful at this moment, and the entire ground emitted sharp crackling sounds due to the high temperature.
"Now!" Eddie roared, Venom's tendrils rapidly extended from his body, and almost simultaneously, he rolled sideways at incredible speed, narrowly avoiding the direct attack of the fiery whip.
Venom's voice was low and angry in Eddie's mind: "Does he really think he's a god? Let's teach him a lesson in reality."
"Not yet, I have a backup plan." Eddie took a breath, propped himself up with his fingers on the ground, and quickly stood up. He glanced at Human Torch, gritting his teeth and whispering, "But for now, we need to make him even more arrogant."
The fiery whip lashed the ground, instantly exploding, and a shockwave shattered the ground, sending rocks and rebar fragments flying everywhere. Human Torch hovered in the air, his eyes full of contempt and disdain. He raised his other hand, and the flames gathering in his palm began to spin rapidly, forming a scorching fireball.
"You lowly creatures, why don't you understand how ridiculous you are?" Human Torch mocked, his voice particularly clear amidst the howling flames, "Every struggle will only make your failure more dramatic."
"Heard enough." A grotesque head emerged from Eddie's shoulder, fangs bared, his tone filled with extreme impatience, "I can't stand his nonsense anymore."
"He hasn't fallen into the trap yet, calm down." Eddie grinned, his eyes fixed on Human Torch. He slowly moved his feet, guiding Venom's tendrils to silently move several pieces of metal debris on the ground into the proper position.
Human Torch clearly didn't notice this, his attention completely occupied by his own performance. The fireball in his hand expanded even more fiercely, as if it could explode at any moment. He slightly raised his head, his voice full of arrogance and conceit: "I wanted to give you a dignified death, but it seems you don't even deserve to kneel."
As he spoke, he suddenly waved his hand, and the giant fireball, with a destructive momentum, smashed towards Eddie. Venom quickly extended its tendrils, violently pulling Eddie aside, while simultaneously grabbing a large piece of metal debris to shield them.
The fireball hit the metal, exploding with light like the Sun bursting at close range, and the entire battlefield was instantly engulfed in scorching flames. The metal debris melted under the high temperature, and Venom's armor was curled by the shockwave, but it still firmly protected Eddie's body.
"Enough, his flame is a disguise, his power is all in his overly arrogant head." Eddie roared, a fierce glint flashing in his eyes. His voice became even lower: "Venom, prepare to reel him in."
Venom's tendrils suddenly shot up from the ground, pulling up several pre-arranged metal fragments, quickly combining them into a ring-shaped barrier, trapping Human Torch in mid-air. At the same time, Eddie suddenly leaped up, his arms wrapped in Venom's strength, transforming into sharp blades, heading straight for Human Torch.
Human Torch was visibly stunned, then burst into a wild laugh: "Foolish! Flame is unrestrained, can mere metal trap me?"
He shook his arms, and the scorching flames instantly expanded, shattering the ring-shaped barrier into pieces. But the moment he destroyed the barrier, Venom's tendrils had already quietly wrapped around his feet, violently pulling him towards the ground.
Eddie's figure streaked through the air, his blades piercing towards Human Torch's shoulder. Although Human Torch reacted in time, protecting his shoulder with flames, that moment of hesitation clearly made him lose absolute control of the situation.
"You think you're truly invincible?" Eddie grinned, his fists, transformed into spikes by Venom, smashed towards Human Torch again.
Human Torch roared, violently spreading his hands, flames surging outwards like a gale, forcing Eddie back. A hint of wavering appeared in his eyes for the first time, but it was immediately filled with anger: "You're really annoying me!"
He crossed his hands, and flames rapidly condensed in his palms, as if the entire World was about to be swallowed by his wrath.
"Now, it ends!"
Human Torch raised his arms high, and the flames covering his body rapidly expanded into a scorching sea of fire, heat waves surging outwards in layers. The surrounding air seemed to be completely burned away, the ground emitted sharp cracking sounds, and the earth gradually melted under the high temperature.
"Watch closely, this is the ultimate power of flame!" Human Torch's voice exploded in the air, carrying a nearly manic triumph. His flames began to change from golden-red to dazzling white, even the light became distorted. The fireball condensed between his palms grew larger and larger, like a small Sun that could explode at any moment.
Eddie and Venom were forced back to the edge of the ruins, and the black armor was already scorched with multiple cracks by the flames. Venom roared in a low voice: "This guy is really crazy! Does he want to burn himself to ash too?"
"Looks like he thinks he's a phoenix," Eddie panted, a tired yet sarcastic smile on his face, "But he might have forgotten, even phoenixes shed feathers."
"Then what do we do?" Venom's tendrils squirmed restlessly, as if searching for cover.
"Hiding is useless." Eddie looked up at the expanding fireball, gritting his teeth, "We have to take a gamble and make him destroy himself."
Human Torch's fireball finally expanded to its limit, and everything around was enveloped in dazzling light. He looked down at Eddie and Venom, his eyes filled with absolute superiority: "You foolish low-level creatures, die in my Sun today! Posterity will remember my name—Human Torch, a true god!"
He suddenly waved his hand, and the fireball detached from his palm, heading straight for Eddie and Venom with earth-shattering momentum. Wherever the fireball passed, even the ground was burned into glowing red lava.
Venom roared, quickly wrapping Eddie completely: "If we die this time, don't let me run into a lunatic like this in the next life!"
"Not yet," Eddie said in a low voice, his eyes fixed on the incoming fireball, "It's not over yet."
Just as the fireball was about to approach, Eddie leaped up with all his might, and Venom's tendrils quickly wrapped around the surrounding metal debris, forming a temporary barrier. However, this was simply not enough to completely block Human Torch's ultimate move. The fireball hit the metal barrier, instantly erupting with a deafening roar, and the powerful shockwave sent the two flying dozens of meters away.
Flames swallowed everything, the light of the explosion was so blinding it was impossible to keep one's eyes open. Eddie fell heavily to the ground, Venom's armor already sticky and ruined by the high temperature. He struggled painfully to stand up, and let out a breath: "Good news is, we're still alive."
Venom let out a weak growl: "Bad news is, we're almost roasted."
Human Torch stood at the center of the explosion, his hands spread, his entire body still wrapped in incandescent flames. His breathing was slightly rapid, but his face was full of arrogance: "You can still move? You surprise me. However, this is your last struggle!"
Eddie wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, a hint of stubborn mockery in his eyes: "You say that as if you can do it again. That fireball looked like it burned out your lungs."
Human Torch's expression stiffened slightly, then he took a sudden step forward, and the flames surged up again. His voice became somewhat grating: "I am an immortal god! You can never defeat me!"
Venom's tendrils trembled slightly, and it said in a low voice: "He's bluffing."
Eddie narrowed his eyes and nodded: "Then we'll give him the final blow."
He suddenly leaped up, Venom's tendrils shooting towards Human Torch like arrows, sweeping up the scattered metal debris and smashing them fiercely at his opponent. Human Torch roared, blocking these attacks with flames, but the high temperature seemed to have made his power unstable, and the light of the flames began to flicker subtly.
Eddie landed, a cold smile on his lips: "See, even matches burn out."
A grotesque head emerged from behind him, adding: "But we still have to admit, his arrogance is a little contagious."
"Shut up, Venom." Eddie grinned and charged towards Human Torch. His fist, wrapped by Venom into a giant black warhammer, smashed fiercely into Human Torch's chest with the force to tear the air.
Human Torch tried to counter with flames, but exhaustion had made his movements sluggish. This blow landed squarely on his chest, the flames suddenly paused, and he was sent flying back, crashing into a large rock.
The rock shattered, and Human Torch climbed out of the flames in a sorry state. There was no longer any of his previous arrogance in his eyes, replaced by anger and unwillingness. He growled, trying to condense flames again, but his body trembled violently, as if it would collapse at any moment.
Eddie stood not far away, hands on his hips, his eyes shining with victory. He was panting heavily, but couldn't help but tease: "How is it, god? Do you feel like the power of mortals is a bit troublesome?"
Venom added a jab from the side: "Don't forget, he's also a matchstick man with built-in explosion effects."
Human Torch suddenly looked up, the last of his rage burning in his eyes: "You... are not worthy to judge me!"
"Whether we're worthy or not doesn't matter," Eddie shrugged, "What matters is, you've already lost."
