Chapter 13 - Invading The Mansion

"Don't be startled by my words lord Nathan. I wasn't just a butler for your father but also a man who could protect him," Henry said, raising his shoulders with a knowing gesture.

"I want you to stay here while I go have a little chat with the guard," Henry told Nathan, and Nathan nodded.

Though Nathan didn't even want to get close to the man with the rifle—he was scared, he didn't even know how he had agreed to sign for something this dangerous.

Henry walked over to the security guard, and the moment the guard saw him, he quickly raised his gun and pointed it at Henry.

"This is a private area. You're not allowed here, so get yourself out before you make the greatest mistake of your life," the guard instructed, he wasn't smiling and he meant his words.

"Hehe, chill, fellow. I'm not here for chit chat neither follow instructions from you. I'm here to talk with your boss, so where is he?" Henry replied casually.

"Back off or I will shoot, I'm not joking around with this gun I'm holding. I won't hesitate to make a bullet pass through your chest if you decide to advance," the guard insisted.

Henry gasped, shaking his head. He had tried his best to negotiate, but it seemed the man with the gun wanted it dirty and rough.

"I tried to negotiate with you, but it seems you aren't the negotiating type," Henry scoffed, then pulled out a pistol.

And bam! Bam!

He pulled the trigger before the security guard could even realize it.

The guard collapsed instantly, dead on the ground.

"What the hell…" Nathan, who had been watching, nearly fell to his knees. He hadn't expected that Henry would actually kill the man.

Nathan had never witnessed someone being shot before. The only time he had experienced it was when Laura shot him.

Henry then shifted his gaze to Nathan, who was hiding and watching in disbelief.

"Come over, Lord Nathan. Don't worry—his death is nothing. If we are to go all out on these people, some have to die."

Nathan was shaken. He hadn't signed up for this. All he wanted was revenge, not the random killing of people.

He walked toward Henry, and Henry could see how badly his hands were trembling.

Henry took a deep breath, then exhaled.

"I'm here to help you take revenge on the people who caused you harm. Trust me. I know you won't understand everything I'm doing now, but with time, you'll get the point."

After saying this, Henry walked into the mansion, leaving Nathan behind, staring at the lifeless guard.

Nathan hesitated, then quickened his steps to catch up with Henry.

"What if the police find out about this?" Nathan asked.

"That shouldn't be our problem neither our main focus for now. Our main aim is to get to a specific person which is Alaric. Let's achieve that goal first; any other conversation is postponed."

Henry, once respectful toward Nathan, now sounded commanding.

"I know I might have switched my tone, Lord Nathan, but it's for your own good and safety, if we keep up any conversation we might alert the remaining security and even worse, we could end up dead," Henry added.

Nathan and Henry entered the mansion unnoticed. They made their way toward a room, but just before reaching it, the door swung open and Alaric stepped out. The moment he saw them, he quickly retreated inside, locking the door shut.

Henry bolted forward, trying to break the door open, but this alerted the other security guards in the building, and they rushed inside, fully ready to take out any invader.

"Shit! Now we have to kill these guys," Henry muttered with narrowed eyes.

Nathan, on the other hand, was utterly confused. He didn't even have a single weapon—he didn't know how to handle a rifle, let alone kill a man.

The guards began firing, and Henry shoved Nathan against the wall, using the concrete to shield him from bullets.

Henry fired back, but the guards kept coming. More and more appeared, but Henry was ready—he had come prepared. He bent down, drew another gun hidden in his shoe, and kept shooting.

Eventually, the guards had no choice but to retreat. Still, Henry wasn't ready to let Alaric escape. Instead of running, he shot the door lock and then bashed the door open.

Inside, Alaric was trying to get his family out through the window. He had already helped his child escape, and now only his wife remained.

Realizing Henry was inside, Alaric grabbed his gun and fired. Henry dodged, rolling out of the way before hiding.

Alaric pulled another gun and continued shooting, giving Henry no opening until he let his wife pass through the window.

Henry had to wait for the right moment. When the gunfire finally ceased and he prepared to make his move, he realized Alaric had already fled through the window.
