Nico looked equally dumbfounded as he stared, mouth open, at Elias and then at the bewildered assassin. His phone remained raised to his ear, leaving whoever he had been talking to suspended in confused silence on the other end.
"I'll call you back in a bit," Nico said, slipping the phone into his pocket.
The surprise left his face almost instantly, replaced by something sharper and more controlled. He fisted his palm, stepped forward and swung his fist. The punch landed cleanly, snapping the man's head to the side. The armed figure collapsed in a heap, the knife clattering uselessly against the concrete.
Elias stood frozen, heart hammering.
Nico rolled his wrist once, as though loosening it after an inconvenience, then crouched to check the man. Seeming satisfied that the man will remain unconscious for a while, he straightened and looked at Elias again.
