There are chances you meet someone's doppelganger, not just yourself but people you know. Elias never thought much of that idea before until he saw him on a Thursday.
Thursdays was when Elias looked forward to Fridays because of the weekends. It wasn't even dramatic meeting like in those movies you watch. Well, at first. It was just a familiar silhouette at the edge of his vision as he hurried down the street, mind already halfway at the café.
His heart stuttered. Cassian. The name rang through him so sharply he stopped walking.
The figure was already moving away, swallowed by the crowd. Elias's chest tightened, instinct overriding reason. He turned and ran.
"Wait!" he called, voice hoarse, ridiculous in the open street. "Cassian—!"
People stared. Someone cursed as Elias brushed past them. All he could see was the back of that jacket, the familiar slope of shoulders disappearing between cars and bodies. He reached the road just as the figure stepped off the curb.
