Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: I'm Her Husband

XANDER

She walked closer, extending her hand for a shake. Probably to seal off our deal. Her brown eyes glimmered but I could see through it. Behind those glimmers I could see the soul one which burned for revenge.

Souls like those are strong and are one of the most delicious to devour. But here I was accepting a deal with a woman whose soul I crave.

" Won't you shake on it?" Her long lashes flipped as she blinked, her brows dipping at the sides.

" Why do I need to shake on it? We've agreed haven't we?" I asked and she shot me a look, probably one of confusion. " I'm my world, we don't shake. We do blood oaths." She paled instantly.

She feared me.

Interesting.

" Yeah I'm not doing a blood oath with a grim reaper, I'm not that crazy."

" But you were crazy enough to make a deal with one?" My lips formed a smirk.

" Like I said, I'm not that crazy…" " Will you shake my hand or what."

I shifted my cloak and brought out my hand. Her gaze lingered on my fingers for some minutes before taking it in hers.

As we shook in agreement, I couldn't help but notice how soft her hands felt like a pillow, made from the finest of feathers.

She retracted her hand and warmth vanished, replaced by the never ending cold which followed me. " Now send me back…" she ordered, spreading her arms wide in a hug like motion, pressing her lashes against each other.

" Sending you back requires, physical contact My Lady." I said and she opened her eyes, heat crawling to her cheeks.

" P-physical Cont-tact?" She stuttered, closing her arms around herself, a behaviour I found adorable.

I took three steps to her, my hand curling around her waist. I could hear her breath hitch, the sound of her heart banging against her ribs.

" Are you terrified?" I asked, and she blinked.

" What are you going to do to me?"

" Many things My Lady, Many wicked things." I replied and I saw her throat swell then reduce as she swallowed.

Lifting my hand, I circled the air around us forming a veil as we shifted through the realms. Her eyes widened when we left the ground, the world around us bending and changing.

She closed her eyes, burying her head deep in my chest. Her hot breath grazing my skin. Her nails pulling at my cloak, digging so deep— it could rip from her grasp.

I looked down at her and I couldn't help but notice the dark strands of her long brown hair, her long lashes which reached her cheeks, her skin slightly pale. The wedding dress clinged to her skin revealing her petite figure which hid beneath it.

My gaze shifted, landing on the smooth piece of skin which rested on her chest, barely covered by her dress. The line which separated her b**bs disappearing into the dress.

She was sexy.

I would give her that.

Looking away, I waved my hand the portal above us opening and the veil around us lifted even further, going into the portal.

White light followed and I found myself right inside a hospital. Which was probably where her body was and was also my favourite human place to be.

A smile grazed my lips when I walked down the halls, the sweet musk of dying humans begging to be released from their suffering filled the air.

This was it.

I spread my arms in the air, stretching my limbs.

It's been so long since I shifted to my human form and my body felt stiff.

I cracked my bones as I continued my stroll down the hallway. " Sir." A feminine voice called and I turned to her, clad in a white dress— a nurse.

" Are you here for someone?" She asked, her cheeks burning under my gaze.

" Yes. My wife." She instantly regained herself, her cheeks gaining their pale colour.

" Oh, you're married." I heard her mumble and I rolled my eyes.

" Please your wife's name?"

" Nicolette Dimitri." Her eyes widened for a moment.

" She has two husbands?" She gasped, lowering her voice but I heard her, I heard the sick excitement in her tone.

Was I surprised?

No.

" She's dead, Sir." she said, her gaze lingering on my lower region, them back to my eyes. " She was announced dead by the—"

" She's alive, take me to her ward."

" But sir."

I leaned closer. " She's alive, take me to her ward."

She shivered from my tone and shook her head. " Yes sir, right this way."

As we walked, I saw a person on a stretcher being wheeled into the hospital, blood covering his skin, his hair disheveled. " We need to get him to the ER immediately!" The man in a lab coat said, he seemed to be the head doctor.

He probably didn't know that this man was already dead even whilst breathing and I would do the honour of telling him. " Don't bother." I said and eyes turned to me, the doctor's face twisted in a frown.

" What do you mean sir?"

" He's already dead."

The doctor hissed and told the nurses to wheel him to the ER. " Don't waste your time, he'll die from that surgery."

The doctor eyed me. " I'm the doctor." He points to his chest. " Not you. I have never failed in an operation and I won't fail now."

Humans.

They never listen.

" Do what you like…" I shoved my hand into my pocket and faced the nurse who was still staring at me with that lustful look in her eyes. " Shall we?"

She snapped out of her trance with a slight jolt. " Yes, right this way."

We walk through the busy halls, the urge to take a few souls simmered beneath my skin but I held myself. I wasn't going to cause a massacre at least not with Nicolette still in this hospital.

After some more minutes of walking, we arrived at the hospital room with number 567 written on the door board. The nurse gestured to the door. " Here's her ward."

" Thank you." I walked to the door, but I could still feel her gaze on my back. Pushing out a breath I turned. " You may be a slut, but you don't have to show it."

She gasped and walked away as I pushed the door and entered into the ward.

_______

There, on the mattress she lay, so weak, so pale, a bandage wrapped around her head, her body small beneath the huge blanket, her eyes closed, hands resting on her stomach which rose and fell in a rhythmic motion.

A man, sitting beside her. His hands braced upon the mattress as he gazed at her with this look of pity in his eyes.

The second husband.

I see.

As though sensing my presence, he turned to me, his eyes rounding in confusion. " Who are you?"

" I'm her husband."
