Chapter 31 - 31

First the stick, then the carrot.

To make the other party obediently reveal information, simple violence and death threats are not the best methods.

The world is never short of stubborn people; using only violence and death threats might not yield the information you want.

At this point, appropriate material incentives are very necessary.

Sixy thousand US dollars in a bag is not a particularly astonishing material temptation for people living in developed countries.

But for these terrorists living in Afghanistan, this sixty thousand US dollars is enough to completely change their lives.

With this sixty thousand US dollars, they can completely smuggle themselves into other countries and start a normal life anew, instead of living in fear in these godforsaken mountainous areas.

Many people think that terrorists join terrorist organizations because of their beliefs.

But the truth is, apart from those terrorists who are not short of money, most terrorists embark on this crooked path because they are too poor to continue living.

People, after all, have to live!

If they can't even survive, don't expect people to have noble morals and sentiments.

Looking at the corpses of their companions around them and the US dollars in the bag, these terrorists quickly made their choice.

Although they were all freedom fighters resisting the US military, they were not members of the Ten Rings.

Sacrificing their lives to keep secrets for the Ten Rings? Only a fool would do that.

A few minutes later, Russell obtained the general information.

Although these terrorists in front of him didn't know exactly where Tony was being held, they were very clear about the general locations where the Ten Rings had strongholds.

There were a total of three strongholds.

The worst case scenario is only having to make three trips.

Not a big problem.

Russell took out the map, verified the locations the terrorists mentioned, and then put the map away again.

"Thank you for your cooperation. As for the US dollars in the bag..."

He scanned the more than thirty terrorists kneeling on the ground, as if deciding who to give the money to.

But that wasn't the case.

As he spoke, a black tentacle as thick as an arm emerged from his back.

Under the gaze of these terrorists, the black tentacle picked up the Gatling gun he had placed aside.

This is...

Just as these terrorists were looking at the black tentacle emerging from his back with incredulous expressions, the Gatling gun opened fire.

Dadadadadada...

Intense gunfire immediately erupted, and bullets rained down on the terrorists.

These terrorists didn't even have a chance to get up before being mowed down into a bloody mess by the Gatling gun.

After all the terrorists in front of him were sent to meet Allah by the Gatling gun, Russell stood up and picked up the bag from the ground.

The sixty thousand US dollars was indeed what he used to tempt these terrorists.

But temptation is one thing; he never intended to give them the money.

This was his hard-earned money made through gunfire and bullets!

If this money were spent on Diana, he wouldn't hesitate at all.

But spending it on these terrorists? He was a hundred percent unwilling.

After picking up the bag, several more black tentacles emerged from him, picking up the rocket launcher, rifle, sniper rifle, and other weapons he had brought, one by one.

After walking back to the off-road vehicle parked a few hundred meters away from the village, he started the vehicle and drove towards the nearest Ten Rings stronghold.

Somewhere in the mountains.

One of the Ten Rings' strongholds.

In a dim cave.

Tony, who had just been asked by the Ten Rings to build a Jericho missile, sat in front of the fireplace, looking at the flames with a dejected expression.

At his feet was a car battery.

The battery was connected to the electromagnet on his chest, preventing the shrapnel from entering his heart.

"Stark, your people are definitely looking for you, but in the mountains, it's hard for them to find this place."

"You saw it just now, those weapons outside are all your creations, your life's work has fallen into the hands of those murderers, and you want to leave this world like this?"

"Is this the final resistance of the great Tony Stark?"

Yinsen, wearing a suit and thin-rimmed glasses, sat beside Tony and spoke slowly.

"Why should I waste my energy? They will kill me sooner or later, and even if they don't, I can only live for a week."

Tony pointed to the electromagnet on his chest.

Although the electromagnet on his chest temporarily saved his life, it could only last for a maximum of one week.

After a week, the battery would run out of power, and the shrapnel would enter his heart, causing him to die in pain.

"Then you should be even more in a hurry, shouldn't you?"

Yinsen continued.

Perhaps he was persuaded by Yinsen, but it was more likely that Tony's will to survive had kicked in.

No one wants to die inexplicably, especially Tony, who had been accustomed to the decadent life of capitalism since he was a child.

A great life was still waiting for him in the outside world; he didn't want to die painfully in a cave in Afghanistan.

Tony's eyes regained their spirit, and self-rescue plans quickly flashed through his mind.

About ten minutes later.

"If this is my workshop, I need the lighting here to be sufficient."

"Welding bench, welding equipment, helmet, goggles, crucible, two sets of cutting tools..."

Tony told Yinsen his requirements, and Yinsen translated his words to the Ten Rings terrorists.

Tony was busy rearranging the cave with great enthusiasm, preparing for his self-rescue.

Meanwhile, Russell was driving towards the first Ten Rings stronghold.

The first stronghold was not very far from the village he had just been in.

It would take about an hour to drive there.

Although the distance wasn't far, the road conditions here were exceptionally bad.

Even worse, the off-road vehicle he was currently driving was not comfortable at all.

Russell felt like a rally driver, speeding along deserted, primitive mountain roads in an uncomfortable off-road vehicle.

Using the 'Scandinavian flick' for weight transfer, Russell, who usually didn't drive on mountain roads much, was drifting on the dusty mountain road.

If there weren't any drainage ditches on these mountain roads, he would have wanted to try the famous drainage ditch cornering.

Relying on his rough yet somewhat refined driving skills, Russell only took an hour to reach the first Ten Rings stronghold.

After a beautiful power slide stop, the off-road vehicle, which wasn't very high-performance to begin with, let out sounds of strain, and white smoke continuously rose from the hood.

Before he even got out of the car, the Ten Rings members a hundred meters away started firing at him.

Bang bang bang bang bang...

Bullets rained down on the car body, and the sounds of impact rang out continuously.

The Ten Rings members at the stronghold had already spotted him when he was still a kilometer away.

It was actually quite difficult not to be spotted.

The dust kicked up by the off-road vehicle's speeding and drifting clearly marked his position like a beacon.
