Chapter 10 - Sky-high dinner

"Find a job for me? Who do you think you are?" Grant's cold words rang in Derek's ears, causing everyone's eyebrows to jump in surprise.

What did he just say?

Daisy's hand holding the wine glass also paused in mid-air, turning her head to look at Grant, a hint of surprise crossing her heart.

Lydia was furious, and directly cursed, "You useless person, what are you talking about! Derek kindly offered to help you, and you don't appreciate it, but also look down on him? Are you worthy! You really think you're a master, relying on Daisy to support you every day?"

"Grant, you're going too far."

"He's right, you're relying on your wife to support you, and you still pretend to be high and mighty?"

"A waste is a waste, even if you give him an opportunity, he won't be of any use!"

The crowd either despised or advised, in their eyes, Grant had become a complete failure, not only without a career, but also self-proclaimed superiority. They really couldn't understand why he was still able to stay in the James Family.

Derek's expression turned cold. People like Grant, who were at the bottom of society, would have been beaten up by him long ago if it were not for Daisy's presence. But this time, he had to maintain enough grace in front of Daisy.

"Haha, it's okay. Young people are proud and unwilling to start from the bottom. I can understand that. Judging from your wolfish appearance, I guess you've never had such good food before, right?"

Derek threw a menu in front of Grant generously and said, "Order whatever you want. This meal is on me!"

"Derek is really generous," Lydia said politely.

"Yeah, this loser doesn't appreciate it, but he still treats us to a meal. This kind of generosity is something that a coward can never learn in his whole life," someone else added.

Lydia hesitated and said, "Derek, I don't know what to say."

"It's nothing. Aunt Reed welcomed me with a banquet when I just returned to the country. I'm just returning the favor," Derek waved his hand.

Everyone praised Derek's generosity even more after hearing this, and they all thought that Grant's words just now were too much.

"Are you sure I can order anything?" Grant asked, and a smile appeared on his face when he received the menu.

"What, do you think I can't afford it?" Derek was surprised and sneered, "I've been abroad and have eaten all kinds of expensive dishes. Just order whatever you want. It's not a big deal."

"I guess you haven't tasted the really good dishes and got scared by the prices," Grant said.

"Haha, that's too pathetic," someone else laughed.

The women looked down on Grant and said, "He looks like he's seen the world, but he's still so petty about ordering food."

Grant smiled and wrote a string of English letters on the menu.

After a while, the hotel manager walked in holding a menu, his face looking serious. "Sir, are you sure you want to order these dishes?"

"Why not?" Derek replied coldly, feeling embarrassed after showing off in front of everyone and now being questioned by the manager. "Two of each dish on the menu!"

The manager, who had never seen a stranger order like this before, was surprised and asked if there was a mistake. But soon enough, the waiters began serving the dishes.

They were quick and efficient, and soon the table was filled with various exquisite dishes. Finally, two small stacks of white caviar were served, decorated with a hint of gold, looking incredibly tempting.

"Here, Daisy," Grant picked up a stack of caviar with a silver spoon and gently scooped a spoonful, offering it to Daisy. "I ordered this for you, try it."

Daisy was taken aback and instinctively wanted to push it away, but seeing Grant's sincere expression, she opened her mouth and tasted it.

"Mmm, this taste is amazing!"

As the caviar entered her mouth, a faint salty and refreshing taste spread, rich and sweet, unexpectedly delicious.

"How's the taste? Pretty good, huh?" Grant said confidently.

"Not bad, Grant. How did you know the caviar here is so delicious?" Daisy asked with a hint of doubt, looking down to realize she had unconsciously eaten most of the dish. Her fair cheeks turned slightly red. "Sorry, Grant. It's just too good. I couldn't resist."

"It's okay. I'll eat what you left. I don't mind your saliva," Grant joked.

"What did you say?" Daisy was annoyed and blushed even more. "You still mind me? I let you eat it, and you still look down on me?"

"Okay, I don't mind. I eat my wife's saliva every day, and it's never enough," Grant teased.

"You're asking for it!" Daisy's fists rained down on Grant's body. Derek watched this playful scene, his anger rising. He glanced coldly at the couple and sneered, "What was I thinking? It's just caviar. You poor people really don't understand. I'm tired of eating this stuff abroad, but you're desperate to order it."

"Okay, Derek, don't argue with this loser. They'll get divorced sooner or later. Don't take it to heart," Lydia stood up and poured Derek a drink, trying to smooth things over.

No matter Derek's identity or background, they all made Lydia want her daughter to divorce Grant and be with Derek as soon as possible. In Lydia's eyes, Grant was a loser who was not worthy of her daughter, only young talents like Derek were qualified.

"Don't worry, Auntie. After I'm with her, I will treat her well and not let her suffer any hardships," Derek said confidently.

Feeling supported by Lydia, Derek felt much better. He waved his hand and said generously, "Waiter, bring two bottles of the most expensive wine!"

Soon, two bottles of wine were brought up. Derek's current identity was extraordinary, and everyone wanted to curry favor with him. They raised their glasses and said various flattering words.

After three rounds of drinking, it was getting dark. The wine on the table had already been drunk, and Derek smiled and waved for the waiter.

Although he didn't have much communication with Daisy today, and even ignored her, he had already communicated with Lydia. With his mother-in-law's support, he was not afraid of not getting Daisy.

"Swipe the card and pay the bill!" Derek took out his bank card and deliberately raised his voice when he looked at Daisy.

At this moment, everyone saw Derek's bank card and couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.

Eastport Country Gold Card!

Eastport Country is the world's largest bank. If your deposit exceeds one hundred thousand, you can get a bronze card. To hold a silver card, you need to have a deposit of one million, and for a gold card, you need to have a deposit of over five million!

Derek's father is worth billions, but that doesn't mean he has that much money. He spent a long time begging for this Eastport Country Gold Card.

After a moment, a waiter came over.

"I'm sorry, sir, but your card balance is insufficient."

Derek was immediately angry. "What's going on? I deposited one million just a few days ago, and you're telling me there's not enough balance in my card?" "I'm really sorry, sir. Your card balance is six million seven hundred thousand Donghua coins, but this transaction amounts to thirteen million."
