Lucian shoved the alpha that was strangling him and Jace staggered, nearly falling down as he lost contact with Lucian.
The cool and collected alpha had turned into an intimidating presence as he oozed pheromones that nearly suffocated Jace and almost forced him to bow his head and submit.
"Put your hands on me again and I will break them." Lucian's voice was chilled as his grey eyes met Jace's fierce green ones, not willing to let the threat to his life slide.
"I will succeed in killing you one day." Jace swore and Lucian smirked devilishly, his eyes passing on a silent dare to his mate.
"A day that I look forward to. See you soon, Jace." Lucian turned to walk away, leaving Jace fuming as he watched the mafia Lord's retreating back.
"Don't you dare walk away from me!" Jace yelled, implusively reaching out and gripping Lucian's shoulder.
There was a deafening sound of a bone breaking as Lucian skillfully twisted his mate's arm, throwing him to the floor with a thud.
"I told you not to touch me again but you didn't listen." Lucian's voice was ice over steel as he shot his mate one last lingering glance before he walked away, leaving him laying on the floor and trying not to groan in pain.
"Unbelievable! I left you alone for a few minutes and you already have a broken arm." Jace's attention shifted from the agonizing pain in his right bicep to Axel's irritated voice.
"Quit nagging and help me get up." Jace murmured, his mood bitter after being so easily defeated by Lucian.
"What happened?" Axel sighed as he helped his friend get on his feet.
"That bastard broke my arm after I had confronted him and reminded him of what he had done to my family." Jace grambled, trying not to wince as a sharp wave of pain coursed through his broken arm.
"Let's go the hospital." Axel suggested as he worriedly looked at his friend's arm that was beginning to swell.
Jace let his friend take him to the hospital, his mind occupied with thoughts of Lucian.
The alpha male that he hated yet desired almost as much.
Jace let out a low sardonic laugh that had him looking like an unhinged maniac as his mind tried to register the fact that his newfound mate bond was now the biggest obstacle in his path for vengeance.
Mate or not, Jace was certain that he had to make Lucian Hayes pay.
The small furrow in Lucian's brow deepened as he replayed his encounter with his mate, reluctant to head back into a room full of people he barely knew.
He was certain Jace hated him and wanted him dead and he knew that he was to blame.
On a few rare occasions, Lucian had imagined what his life would be like once he found his mate.
Would his mate be someone he could trust? Would he be less lonely?
His mind flashed back to an angry Jace and his hopes disappeared into thin air as he walked into the men's washroom.
He splashed cool water onto his face, his stormy grey eyes meeting his reflection through the mirror as he braced himself to head back to his business associates.
After patting his face dry with his handkerchief, Lucian straightened his shoulders and prepared to head out only to bump into someone once he walked out of the door.
His senses were immediately overwhelmed by the wave of pheromones in the air as he looked at the head full of blonde hair that was resting against his chest.
"I am sorry for bumping into you." The shorter man hurriedly put some distance between them, his ocean blue eyes widening in dread as they looked up at him and realized that he was an alpha.
Lucian's jaw tightened as he looked at the fragile built man that was looking at him like he was a monster.
The blond haired man was flushed, his pale skin red and his breath uneven.
It didn't take Lucian long to realize that the omega before him was in heat.
"It's okay." Lucian murmured, blocking out the enticing scent of chocolate that stirred the instinctal part of him that naturally wanted to breed with the omega in heat.
He stepped aside, preparing to walking away from the omega but a small hand tugged on his sleeve, halting his movements.
Lucian reluctantly turned to look at the man that was looking up at him with dazed eyes.
"You smell so good." The omega sighed as he unconsciously stepped closer to Lucian.
Lucian's cheeks flushed at the unexpected compliment and if he had been a lesser alpha, he could have taken advantage but a part of him knew that the omega before him was not in his right mind.
"Thank you. Come with me, I help you get some hormonal suppressants and get you home safely." Lucian murmured as he held out his hand and the omega that was far too gone and wrapped in a haze of sudden need and desire placed his small hand in his.
Lucian glared at any alphas that stared too long at the omega that smelt and looked like a walking temptation once they entered the room that was filled with his quests.
One of his men gave a brief announcement on his behalf, apologizing for his quick departure and once everything was sorted, Lucian led the omega to his car.
"Drive to the nearest pharmacy." Lucian told the driver, swallowing uncomfortably once the man in his arms snuggled closer and buried his face in his hair, shamelessly sniffing his scent.
"What's your name?" Lucian's voice was hoarse as he put some distance between them before he lost his sanity.
Thankfully, the only person he desired was Jace and as ridiculous as it seemed, Lucian couldn't imagine having any intimate relations with someone that wasn't his mate.
"Kyle, what's yours?" The omega smiled seductively and Lucian blinked, noticing how
good looking the omega beside him was.
"Lucian." He cleared his throat as he quickly averted his gaze and climbed out of the car, offering Kyle his hand.
They walked into an open pharmacy and after purchasing the right hormonal suppressants, Lucian was relieved when Kyle's dazed eyes become a little bit clear.
The omega looked up at him, surprise and confusion flickering in his round blue eyes.
"Thank you for not taking advantage of me, Lucian." Kyle eventually spoke, his voice sincere and surprised.
"It was nothing. Do you want me to drop you off at your place?" Lucian asked politely.
