Kyle nodded, accepting the alpha's help since he couldn't walk out of the pharmacy without worrying for his safety.
Lately, his heat cycles had been unpredictable since he had been using suppressants for so long that his body was slowly starting to build immunity against the drugs.
Kyle couldn't believe that he had nearly pounced on the unsuspecting alpha male before him.
His pheromones were still slipping through and if he stepped outside alone, he could become the target of every sex crazed alpha within a five mile radius.
Kyle faintly shuddered at the thought of having his body violated against his will somewhere in a dark alley.
He silently followed Lucian back to his car, his eyes curiously studying the man that was seated beside him, barely noticing his existence.
Kyle had hated alphas for as long as he could remember but as he recalled fragments of his bold actions through his haze, he realized that for the first time in his life, he had found one alpha he didn't hate.
Lucian had been respectful and even offered to help him, something most Alpha males alone with an omega in heat could not have done.
"What's your address?" Lucian briefly turned to look at the omega that was silently watching him.
Kyle gave Lucian his address and once they arrived at the omega's luxurious mansion, the Alpha curiously watched as the small man walked out of the car.
"Thanks again, Lucian." A small smile curled up on Kyle's lips as he said farewell to the Alpha that now held his attention.
He stood outside the gate and intently watched the black car drive off before he turned and walked inside, his sky blue eyes determined.
"Look at the security footage and find out who he is. I want every single detail but most importantly, his relationship status." Kyle said to the body guard that was following a couple of steps behind him.
"I will, sir." The beta readily agreed.
Kyle didn't notice the faint smile that was curled up on his lips as he thought of Lucian.
His powerful political family had been pressuring him to get married to an Alpha and start a family soon.
The idea that had been entirely distasteful in the beginning was now starting to look appealing as Kyle fell back onto his bed and thought of Lucian.
He was the perfect Alpha for the role.
Lucian exhaled softly as he lay in bed that night, unable to keep Jace out of his thoughts.
Sleep was not coming easily although he was exhausted so Lucian climbed out bed and headed to the kitchen to fix himself a cup of tea, finally figuring out why he was so bothered.
His mate was injured and he was responsible.
Jace's lips were drawn into a faint line of displeasure as he looked at the white cast on his arm.
Thanks to Lucian, he was now injured and mostly likely not going to actively purse his plans of killing the Alpha for the next three weeks.
There was an invisible dark cloud looming over his head as he thought of his next course of action.
"Let's go home." He told Axel who was seated by his bedside side, casually flipping through a newspaper.
"Alright." The beta readily agreed, anticipating a good night sleep as he hurriedly helped Jace get up from the bed.
"So, what's your plan now?" Axel was curious as they walked through the hospital corridors.
"I am actively contemplating hiring an assassin to get the job done since I clearly cannot do anything." Jace's voice was serious and Axel tried not smile.
"We both know that you could prefer to get the job done yourself. Leave the planning to me." Axel pointed out and Jace shot him a long glare, inwardly admitting that his best friend was right.
"Fine. You can do the planning." Jace gave in.
"Are you sure you only want to kill him?" Axel was genuinely curious as they entered the car.
"What do you mean?" Jace murmured, his mood getting bitter at the thought of his alpha mate.
"He is your mate. From what I have read, desire comes along with the bond." Axel pointed out and the tips of Jace's ears burned.
"I...I don't desire him." Jace denied the accusation, his mind refraining from thinking of Lucian's fine face.
He involuntarily recalled the stormy grey eyes that he found strangely alluring and the way Lucian's pink slender lips were permanently curled into a small confident smirk. Like he knew that he was untouchable.
Heat rose to Jace's cheeks as he looked out of the window, hiding his reaction from Axel's alert eyes.
"You do find him attractive." Axel noted, his voice certain only for his best friend to glare at him with an intensity that had his mouth shut.
"Another word on this and I am throwing you out of the car." Jace threatened and Axel held out his hands in temporary surrender.
"Fine." The beta gave up, smiling mischievously as he looked at his friend that was in denial.
He had a feeling that things were only going to get more interesting.
Axel only knew fragments of Jace and Lucian's history but as much as he supported his friend's pursuit for revenge, Axel didn't want the Alpha to destroy his chances at romance in the process.
They had been friends for four years and Lucian was like family to him so Axel felt like he was responsible for protecting the headstrong alpha from himself.
Axel's father had been the Blackwell family butler and once he had passed away due to illness, Lucian had taken Axel in, treating him like the brother he never had.
They had become close friends since then and Axel who was three years older than the twenty year old Lucian was determined to protect him.
"Do you need help changing out of your clothes?" Axel asked once they were inside the old Blackwell family mansion, his tone concerned as he watched Jace climbing up the stairs to his room.
"No need to worry about me, I will manage." Jace assured and Axel didn't insist as he happily dashed to his room, quite eager to get some rest.
Jace slowly took off the black long sleeved shirt that was now ruined once he was inside his room before laying in his bed and staring at the white ceiling.
He thought of Lucian and how he could not wait to kill him before he slowly drifted off to sleep.
Jace rarely dreamed but that night, he had a dream. A dream about Lucian.
