"DXD: Infinite Loot System"Chapter 337: Samael, the Dragon Eater

At Cao Cao's signal, Georg—the Mist Sorcerer—spread his arms wide. A colossal magic circle unfurled, runes flickering as oily black light spilled across the ground.

The temperature dropped. Tenra felt it instantly: a suffocating, hostile pressure pouring from the heart of the spell.

A guttural shriek ripped through the air.

Pain twisted every syllable—a monster's howl, echoing off the walls as a massive figure emerged from the circle, nailed to a towering cross.

Its upper body was almost human, but black wings jutted from its back—a fallen angel's silhouette. Below the waist, its form stretched into a serpentine tail, scales glinting in the gloom like an Eastern dragon. Iron restraints locked its head and eyes; spikes pinned its arms, wings, and torso to the cross, each one slick with old blood. It was horrifying—an abomination, punished beyond imagination. What kind of creature had earned such torment?

Asia and Kunou shrank back, faces drained of color. Even Tenra felt a chill in his bones—a dread deeper than anything he'd known.

Dragon-slaying intent. No mistaking it. This thing radiated pure, lethal malice—designed to annihilate dragons.

Tenra had merged with Ascalon, the dragon-slaying holy sword, but the aura rolling off this monster dwarfed Ascalon a thousandfold.

"Overwhelming… it's like malice made flesh," he muttered.

"Tenra Kamiyo, be on guard," came Ddraig's voice, shaky and uncertain. Albion's tone was equally grave—unprecedented for the Two Heavenly Dragons.

Fear. Real fear. The kind that made even gods flinch.

Tenra didn't need their warning. Ravel, host to the Black Evil Dragon King, was shivering, pale as snow. The sensation—being marked by a natural predator—sent shivers straight to the soul.

Cao Cao watched their reactions with glee. "You feel it, don't you? Tenra Kamiyo, Ophis—behold our trump card…"

He swept his spear toward the monster. "Samael, the Dragon Eater!"

Tenra's heart lurched. Just the name was enough to set alarms blaring.

Cao Cao grinned. "That's right. Samael—the bane of all dragons and those who carry their power."

He turned, almost lecturing. "You know the story of Adam and Eve? The serpent in the Garden of Eden, the one who tempted them to eat forbidden fruit—that was Samael. For that, he earned the hatred and curse of the God of the Bible."

He sounded almost proud of the horror he'd unleashed.

Yubelluna's voice trembled. "Impossible! Samael was sealed deep in Hades. How did you summon him?"

Cao Cao smirked. "Well, well. The Queen knows her lore. Samael was indeed locked away in the depths of the Underworld—God's curse and all. But after a little negotiation with Lord Hades himself, we secured temporary summoning rights."

Tenra and Rias exchanged glances, faces darkening. Hades—the Greek god of the dead—was supposed to be an ally. Yet here he was, colluding with the Khaos Brigade. Betrayal, plain and simple.

Cao Cao shrugged. "If you're mad at Lord Hades, take it up with him later. For now—let's get down to business."

He leveled his spear at Ophis. "Samael, devour her!"

The monster's shriek rose—a chorus of agony, bloodlust, and hate. From Samael's maw, tentacles shot out, writhing through the air. They struck Ophis like lightning, wrapping her in a cocoon of flesh and scale.

With Ophis's power, she should have broken free instantly. But inside the cocoon, she didn't even move.

Cao Cao's eyes gleamed. "Just as I thought! Samael is the nemesis of all dragons—even Ophis isn't immune!"

He laughed, triumphant.

Tenra cursed under his breath. He shot forward, conjuring a Holy-Demonic Sword, slashing at the cocoon with desperate speed. Hundreds of strikes in seconds—yet the blade didn't even dent the mass. Instead, venom on its surface ate away at the sword, dissolving it to nothing.

Cao Cao lunged, spear flashing. "Tenra Kamiyo, your fight is with me!"

Tenra dodged, forced to retreat as Rias and the others clashed with Hero Faction members all around.

Cao Cao grinned. "Before we finish off Ophis, you'll play with me for a while."

He raised the True Longinus, activating its Balance Breaker. A halo of light spun behind him, seven glowing orbs orbiting in slow, menacing arcs.

"Medusa's Gaze!"

One orb detached, splitting into three. In a heartbeat, they struck Rias, Akeno, and Yubelluna as they fought—trapping each inside a sphere of shimmering light.

"What is this?!" Rias cried, pounding the barrier with magic.

Irina and the others rushed to help, but nothing worked. The spheres held firm, immune to every attack.

Cao Cao's smile widened. "It's useless. Medusa's Gaze is one of my Balance Breaker abilities. It can seal female opponents for a set time—no attack from inside or out will break it. You'll just have to wait until it releases them."

Tenra's expression darkened. Cao Cao's powers were a nightmare—every ability more troublesome than the last.

At least there were limits. Only three spheres—Rias, Akeno, and Yubelluna were trapped. If Cao Cao could spawn dozens, Irina and the rest would be locked away too, leaving Tenra utterly alone.

He snapped out orders. "Irina, you and the others handle the rest. I'll take care of Cao Cao. Finish your fights quickly—then we rescue Ophis!"

"Understood!"

With their strongest fighters sealed, the pressure was on. But Irina and the others moved without hesitation.

"Cao Cao!" Tenra shouted, summoning his Heavenly Dragon Armor in a burst of emerald light. He hurled himself at his enemy, every second counting.

Cao Cao laughed, spinning his spear. "Here you come! Let's see what you've got!"
