/Madison's POV/
The interview wasn't exactly a tiring job; I mean, it's less difficult than most things I've done. It's even less difficult than moving the bar supplies into the storage, but somehow I managed to sleep for two hours after it was all over, and by the time I woke up, I was starving. My stomach felt hollow, almost echoing as I stretched and dragged myself out of bed.
Thankfully, Zane was… eating lunch?
"Hey," I called out, surprised to find him at the dining table with all sorts of food spread out in front of him.
The warm, savoury scent of seafood hit me almost immediately—garlic, butter, something spicy—mixing strangely with the faint sterile smell from his electronics.
Yet he still managed to pay more attention to work. I realised this as I walked closer and saw his laptop in front of him, a few of the food plates pushed back to accommodate not just the laptop but his tablet and, unsurprisingly, he also had his phone to his ear.
