Hazel's POV
As we made our way through the forest, the sun was already sinking behind the trees, and the evening breeze brushed softly against my skin. I closed my eyes for a moment, exhausted. How much farther did we have to go before reaching the kingdom? It had been nearly an hour, and we didn't seem any closer.
"What's on your mind? You seem lost in thought," Skyler's voice broke through the silence beside me.
I turned to her, catching the curious frown on her face. I forced a small smile and shrugged. "Sorry, I was just thinking about what I'll do when I finally see my parents again. I can't predict how I'll react. I want to stay composed, but it's hard not to remember everything they did to me. Anyway, let's just keep moving."
