Chapter 35 - Unlucky Encounter

HAZEL'S POV

I couldn't shake off the chill that sank deep into my bones as I lay on the cold, damp floor of the dungeon. Pushing myself up, I rubbed my hands together, trying desperately to create some warmth before I froze to death. The cell was merciless—either unbearably hot or bone-chillingly cold.

I couldn't help but wonder if it was built that way on purpose. As I approached the iron bars, I took in a sharp breath, only to gag at the musty, decaying scent that filled the air. Every small sound I made echoed against the stone walls, a haunting reminder of how utterly alone I was. Wrapping my arms tightly around myself, I tried to fight the cold, but it was useless.

My thoughts spun wildly, searching for any possible way to escape this wretched place. The bars were thick, the spaces between them narrow, and the locks—massive and unbreakable. Feeling defeated, I moved to a corner and tried to reach out to Ava.
