Chapter 201: Roar of Thunder
"…You." Mei Terumi's eyes widened in surprise as she looked at Yusuke.
"It's been a while, Mei Terumi," Yusuke replied casually.
"You insolent bastard! The name of the Mizukage isn't something you can say so lightly!" one of the Kirigakure shinobi barked.
"Enough. I'm sure you wouldn't make a fuss over a Chunin's words, would you?" Mei Terumi responded calmly.
"Oh? I wouldn't be so sure about that," Yusuke said, casting a sideways glance at the shinobi who had just yelled at him.
With that single glance, the man froze in place. It was as if he had been plunged into eternal frost—his blood stilled, his limbs locked, and a deep chill enveloped his soul, as if he were staring straight into the pits of hell.
Yusuke offered a faint smile and turned his gaze back to Mei Terumi, completely ignoring the now-collapsed shinobi who had fallen to the ground, gasping for air.
"So tell me, Lady Mizukage, what brings you to the Land of Water?" he asked with a mild smirk.
"Oh? And what if I said I was just here to enjoy a little sightseeing?" Yusuke replied playfully.
Everyone around him wore a sour expression. Who in their right mind would come to such a remote place just for a vacation? This wasn't exactly a tourist destination.
"Lord Hatake, please don't joke around," Mei Terumi said seriously.
She was suspicious. She believed he was after the Three-Tails, the very Tailed Beast they were tracking.
"Well then, since you know I'm joking… move aside," Yusuke said nonchalantly.
"Lord Hatake, the Three-Tails is the property of Kirigakure," Mei said with a frown.
"You're mistaken. The Tailed Beasts were never truly owned by any one village. You should know that all the Tailed Beasts were captured by the First Hokage and merely distributed to the villages to maintain balance. That means the only one with the right to decide their fate is someone descended from the Senju Clan," Yusuke explained with a thin smile.
"No. If the First Hokage gave them to us, then they belong to our village. A gift, once given, can't be taken back—right?" Mei Terumi insisted firmly.
"Fine. Then show me your strength. But if you fail to capture it… the Three-Tails becomes mine," Yusuke declared.
"Besides," he added, "if we don't act quickly, it might fall into Akatsuki's hands. And that would be far worse, wouldn't it?"
Mei Terumi narrowed her eyes, unsure. She knew this man's power was shrouded in mystery—even the savage Fourth Raikage couldn't match him.
Although she possessed two Kekkei Genkai and was confident in her own strength, if both sides ended up badly wounded, Akatsuki would simply swoop in and take advantage.
If she personally stepped in to seal the Three-Tails, Yusuke might just wait in the shadows and steal the prize at the end. That was the last thing she wanted.
"…Why hasn't anyone moved yet?" Yusuke said. "Well, in that case, I'll go first. The Three-Tails is mine."
"Lion's Might: Water Spiral!"
The river water around them suddenly surged upward. In an instant, the massive form of the Three-Tails was lifted into the air, water spiraling around its body.
Isobu, the Three-Tails, looked shocked. It stared at Yusuke with guarded eyes.
"Tailed Beast Ball," it muttered. A pitch-black orb of energy began forming in its mouth.
"Everyone, fall back! That's a Tailed Beast Ball!" Mei Terumi shouted, her face pale.
Even though she was stunned by Yusuke's strength, this was no time for admiration.
Yusuke slowly floated into the air.
The completed Tailed Beast Ball fired straight at him, its power overwhelming. A tremendous explosion shook the battlefield, throwing up clouds of dust and smoke.
But…
Yusuke raised a single hand and casually batted the ball aside, like flicking away trash.
"Don't be so hasty, Isobu," he said with a relaxed smile.
The Kirigakure shinobi were frozen in shock.
"That was… That was a Tailed Beast Ball, right? And he… just swatted it away?"
"Let's have some fun, shall we, Isobu?" Yusuke said.
Clapping his hands together, he vanished and reappeared on the Three-Tails' back. With a sudden kick, he launched the giant beast flying.
Before Isobu could hit the ground, Yusuke appeared again and landed another kick, sending the beast spinning through the air like a ball in a game.
"You wretch! Don't underestimate a Tailed Beast!" Isobu roared in fury.
"Oh? You're mad now?" Yusuke grinned as he saw Isobu's chakra begin to surge.
"Water Style: Iron Water Cannon!" A barrage of high-pressure water bullets shot from Isobu's mouth, aimed directly at Yusuke.
"Water Style: Water Prison!" The surrounding water merged and locked Yusuke inside a multi-layered prison of water.
Isobu had realized that ordinary attacks wouldn't work. His previous Tailed Beast Ball had been effortlessly swatted aside. He needed to seal Yusuke.
"Super Tailed Beast Ball!"
Chakra condensed once more in Isobu's mouth, forming a massive sphere, far larger than the last.
As he launched it, the entire Water Prison shattered. Yusuke's body was engulfed in a blinding explosion.
"He's… He's gotta be dead now, right?" one of the Kirigakure shinobi whispered.
"There's no way he survived that kind of power," another said.
For them, the mysterious man's death would be a blessing. Isobu was powerful, yes—but no one could survive an attack like that.
However, Mei Terumi wasn't so sure.
And she was right.
As the dust slowly cleared, Yusuke stood there, untouched. Not a single scratch.
"Not bad, Isobu. You done attacking now? Good. My turn," he said with a smile.
"Hmm… What should I use this time?" Yusuke mused. "Oh, I know."
He clapped his hands.
"All right. Don't die on me, Isobu."
Lightning began to crackle across his body.
"200 Million Volts: Thunder God's Spear!"
A colossal lightning spear formed in his hand. In the blink of an eye, he hurled it like a thunderbolt straight at the beast.
"AAAARRRGHH!!" Isobu roared in agony. Even with his thick shell, lightning was his weakness.
"Not bad, huh? That attack packed 200 million volts. Think you can handle the next one?" Yusuke teased.
He then looked up to the sky, raising his arms.
"Lightning Summon!"
The sky darkened instantly. Thunderclouds rolled above them. From within, a gigantic object began descending, glowing with pure electrical fury.
Isobu's instincts screamed in alarm.
Even for a Tailed Beast, this power was beyond anything he had felt before. He felt no bigger than an insect before a divine hammer.
The Kirigakure shinobi collapsed to their knees. The oppressive force was overwhelming.
"Here's a little warning, Isobu," Yusuke said calmly. "Don't try to run. This attack will wipe out the entire island in a single second. There's no escape."
Despite its seemingly slow descent, the technique was unavoidable.
Among all Logia-type Devil Fruits, Goro Goro no Mi (Lightning Fruit) and Magu Magu no Mi (Magma Fruit) were without question at the top when it came to destructive power.
And in certain ways, lightning could even surpass magma.
Only Space-Time Ninjutsu users—like Minato, Tobirama, or Obito—might survive such a blow.
Even the Fourth Raikage with his Lightning Release Armor wouldn't escape it.
And most shinobi had no means of teleportation at all.
