Chapter 32 - In The Wake Of War

Written by **EYRAM**

At the last minute, she decided to flee, get a complete Dhampir, under her leadership then return, but then Jack completed the process and what she could only describe as dark light, covered him, was in his aura and at that moment he felt like and existence transcendental in nature compared to the likes of her.

Then she began to flee, like her life depended on it, and her life actually depended on if she could survive this hurdle and continue moving forward, but guilt got he best of Jack, and he ended up letting her go, this would not be the final battle, he had something big planned for that but after this incident he knew he had to step up his game and speed up his plans.

But while all the Dhampirs were retreating, Jack smelt someone, human, fresh blood and following the scent he saw a woman looking to be in her thirties, with glorious strawberry blonde her, and rosy skin, it was Anne, he could tell from but a glance, but why was she with the Dhampirs emotions clouded his judgement, and he went straight to her, without setting any measures to protect himself then screamed

"Anne, I know you can hear me, It's Jack, please tell me that you were kidnapped by the dhampirs and forced to do their bidding, you have two beautiful daughters who look just like you and deeply yearn your presence" Anne stopped in her tracks looked at him and said,

"Jack, you played me for a fool, I was young and believed every lie you told, then when I was sick, due to the aftermath of carrying your babies, I was left in the hospital with a kid to take care of and no money whatsoever"

"You are mad at me I understand that Anne, but do not take it out on your own children"

"Those. Things are not my children their yours" after that phrase she left, Jack was broken on the inside unable to recognize his wife, the only woman he ever loved in his long dark life, and she left him with his first heartbreak.

In the wake of the war the grounds covered in craters, Jack wept, shadows filling the skies all around earth as he plunged into depression, he floated in all of it, the mass destruction caused to humans' plant's and everything living, in seconds was appealing and at that moment he looked to be emotionless.

His heart lost in the abyss it once was, the darkness in his heart before meeting Anne returning, he lost all love, and held nothing but spite, felt he was treated like this because he was allowed to go weak, and at that moment he wanted nothing more than to kill Anne, and felt no sense of responsibility towards his own daughters, in this crucial moment, where people thought it was the end of the world…

In the hall of the castle Serena found out some walls were hollow while others were not, and the hollow walls could open up and close at anytime so the way out was probably locked and would need a great sense of timing to reach.

She had failed multiple times, but tried over and over again resilience in her eyes, and at her umpteenth try she was finally out, in this place there was no day nor night, she could go on for months without sleep and never got tired, leaving Serena worried about what was going on outside and how much time had passed, it was all too surreal.

After getting out her hand, got mauled by the wall, and she wailed in pain for minutes straight and when it opened up, the point that used to be on her arm was now a line, that gave the illusion of parting, the very thing on the flag, it was laced with woven patterns which she could see clearer than the point and somehow felt it all meant something and though she did not know the nuances of it, it felt like a Language.

She was hesitant on looking for another castle, judging by her previous experiences they just got worse the further she went, and she barely came out of that one alive, so why willingly go into another one? But there was still… the problem. How would she get out, did it have something to do with the castles, the mirror images she saw in the past or something else entirely.

And strangely for the third castle, it was a neatly made three-point star shape, then remembering the four-pointed star on the mirror images hand, she realized she might be able to get out after getting the fourth star.

She was much calmer than she had been in a long time, since her unsettling step into Ravensville, moreover she was not thinking about loose ends, she felt calm, and wanted to feel like this all the time, but without noticing she walked right into the third castle that looked perfect, not rundown, not open roofed, straight out of a Disney movie, that was just how she had to describe it.

But as soon as she walked in, her day just turned to the epitome of imperfection, first she fell face first and found it strange she had not a proper reaction to it in the least bit, then a cupboard fell on her, and soon books and sharp knives were aiming for her life. And she was impalpable of dodging, it seemed like they could change trajectory mid-air.

But that was when she remembered what she learned in the first castle and second one, she tried not to calculate, or analyze the objects in her direction, but instead leave it to luck, or should I say fate, then next she decided not to look at where it was while dodging but where it would be, and not try to be there but instead the opposite of that place, that change would be too abrupt and the book would fall.

As soon as she figured out then out of no-where a sharp ninja star carved a perfect three-pointed star on her arm, it was perfect, just like the one on the flag, but was excruciatingly painful.

After this one, she was exhausted for the first time physically, since the ordeal with the lawyer, and the constant lawsuits. Sweat dripped down her face and at that moment she felt at her limit, at a place where she could not advance further, and now lost all hope of finding the fourth castle she settled into a fetal position and just relaxed and felt everything around, her like she was completely in tune with her environment.

And that was when she just started feeling dizzy then opened her eyes, finding out she arrived at home, at long last, she was finally there and she did not know how she got there, but one thing was certain and that was, she was a different person, she felt she was complete not just her sisters other half, and when her eyes changed color, they both did without her sister being anywhere near.

But then she calmly thought, where could the mirror image, their mom who was actually alive, according to the mirror image at least, and that's when she was home alone, and there was an apocalyptic storm, meteorologists believe will end all plant life if not human, then humans would follow, the few who did not die in the storm would be left without oxygen and food.

But she felt some familiarity, like she had seen this shadow elsewhere, it's subtle blue tint, the human eye would not be keen enough to notice, that was Jack, her dad, but how did he cause a global storm, she knew not what to do or anything, but was strangely calm.

Gus, noticing the commotion in the wake of war, quickly walked out his castle, and then took away a large portion of Jack's power, making him go unconscious, then jack was left in the luxurious suite, reserved for the Vampire lord of the Gluttony castle. Seraphina, soon on her feet, but without the baby she once had, leaving her crestfallen, she had grown to embrace the idea of having a child.

With all the staff in the house, it would not affect her too much, she would still have time to do other things while being a part of her child's life, and her father, was unconscious her twin siter was gone, she knew not how much longer she could hold on.

In the house, all Serena observed was the sudden return of the sunlight, removing the total darkness that once was, and since there was not much going on, at this place, not wanting to waste a second more after wasting so much time getting out of a mirror, she made her way towards Serene Technologies, and there she analyzed all the paper work that would have taken days previously in minutes.

Things had changed, and everyone settled into a lifestyle they never had before like they were born to play that role, it all seemed surreal, or seamless some would say but one thing was clear, this marked the beginning of tremendous change in each and every character's life.
