Seraphina quickly took to her feet, not giving the knight a chance gain a head start at her but to their shock instead of running out she was running in, but they still went hot at her tail and right before they got their hands on her, she was at the door, through teleportation, she opened it and ran away, Jack made a deep frown, and the Knights, became so nervous from just the killing intent he released they almost peed on themselves.
…
Somewhere faraway, Serena stopped sprinting, but still felt on edge; those two guards were capable of chasing her even out of the house, and she knew her father long enough to realize he did not give a hoot for the law, but not dwelling on it, she just counted her blessings and stopped a cab, which she directed to her home.
When she got home, she took a relaxing shower to get rid of all the sweat, and that was when she realized, due to her hectic lifestyle, she was losing weight, and despite the unhealthy fatty foods she continued to eat, she still had a perfect figure.
She quickly went to work, but was still scared, wondering if out of nowhere her father would suddenly materialize and make another attempt at kidnapping her.
But despite being unsettled, she tried to do her work to the best of her capabilities, and quickly got out of work. She wanted to improve and grow stronger, but did not know if she would be able to go through the pain of evolution, and wanted to be able to defend herself.
She spent hours practicing the art of the sword, the heavy, hardly movable sword, but all she learned was, she could move it faster if she was pointing out the sharpened edge. By a considerable margin, she had no teacher and zero genuine skills; she was a considerably fast learner.
Soon she found herself beaten down and tired, for the first time in a while, and decided to go to sleep. But still had trouble sleeping, she remained unsettled, which was normal based on the events that had gone down throughout the day.
And later on, she took warm milk, which used to help before her evolution, but she did not know if it would have the same effects but The next thing she remembered, she was awake, it was morning time, and nothing shady had gone down through the night.
She took a shower, as usual that day, and put on another one of her suits and made her way to work. The office was running smoothly, and there was nothing wrong with finances. In fact, they were left with roughly a quarter of the debt they had to pay. She was looking forward to the day they would actually start making a profit, and she would be able to afford her own good life. Where she could also do the simple things, like cooking.
But that would only hold if she managed to survive what was coming next, what she did not know.
Lance stopped her on her way like usual, but this time had a noticeable serious expression that garnered unnecessary attention from her; yes, she found Lance's expression a wasteful, unproductive use of time. But then he placed his finger on her shoulder boldly, making her shriek far louder than she could before, evolving, and then shout.
"Get your hands off," he smiled smugly and asked.
"Else what huh, are you going to tell me on your daddy?" She punched him square on the nose and said,
"Lance I am utterly disappointed in you, you are just like Caspian, after I rejected you, you tried to sabotage my business, but guess what, right now I am profiting from your actions" then she walked away leaving him holding his bleeding nose, asking himself, just how strong she had become, before the stronger sister was easily subdued and now her the one who could not even properly grasp her strength had gone through earth shattering change, she probably finally grasped the depths of her power he thought while Serena made her way to the office.
After getting to her office, she decided to go through the working hours everyone was putting in, and while the ones at the far branch were aiming for promotions, putting in extra hours, and all that, the ones closer to her were slacking, though she knew it was because of how much work she was doing, hence, working was not a necessity.
But she decided to hold a staff meeting, and there she addressed the problem by firmly saying if they work just one hour under their monthly quota, they should consider that months' salary, gone and if they were not comfortable with it, they should write a resignation letter to her, soon it was included in the letter they would sign even before employment.
People complained, but no one brought in a resignation letter. After the mist disappeared, the outside world finally got to know of the hidden gem known as Ravensville, and the place was overpopulated. Now name it: housing, job opportunities, resources, they were not enough to meet demand, inflating prices were inflated pretty quickly.
So, they had no other option than to remain until further notice because they could not look for a job while working there, it was stated in their contract, and if they left without a guaranteed job, their chances of obtaining one without a first degree were almost zilch.
So that was when she decided to do another interview. Now she has better options; people with degrees are lining up for entry-level jobs, just because they are guaranteed promotion would be given to those loyal and experienced, not just qualified.
She picked three people like usual, and when they saw the contract, they mostly wanted to opt out, but their options were limited, hence some stayed, but one needed time to consider, like usual. These new additions improved productivity and sales fundamentally. Due to their excellent qualifications, they would be analysts anywhere else, but here they were all her assistants, and only by the end of the year would she appoint her first analyst.
After that interview, she conducted another one; she could not keep dealing with both staff and cash with the growing number of staff, and hence needed to appoint someone in human resources. But unfortunately they all demanded something better than an entry level job, typical for people who studied business management, so she had to show them the terms for promotion and the rest of the contract, before the selection process to even attract people, soon she picked two, both with second degrees, and though they were not happy with the pay it was better than no job at all, and Serena was adamant on not allowing anyone to come in without starting from the bottom.
But now that all that was in order, she told her legal assistant to work closely with the HR, since he knew best the rules and policies the staff had to adhere to, and she only had to keep watch of the HR and legal assistants.
With this professional setup, they were no longer a startup business; they were close to stabilizing, and once they were out of debt, they would be stable, in just around a Quarter after their establishment, which ought to break some Guinness world record of some sort, at least she thought.
After the demanding workload for that day was settled, the work she had on her hands was significantly lower, and she did not need to involve herself directly in the manufacturing process anymore, now that she had more experienced employees, but they were spread too thin, with that many branches.
The danger of being robbed was at an all time high, but luckily all their real estate had top notch scanners and could easily identify anything fishy, but as an extra measure she also decided to hire assistant watchmen, which would be provided with tasers, and no deadly weapon, just in case she was included in some Lawsuit for murder, but that interview was not going to be organized by just her, she left a majority of the work to her new HR and her existing legal assistant who had more experience in that regard than any other one. The HR decided on hiring an HR for every branch and equally distributing each role in such a way that each branch could operate independently.
But because they dropped too many jobs in the market or something, the rarity of jobs might have reduced or something and hence they only got a few people with degrees, but for now they could work with that, now she had twenty employees, all at the assistant level, spread across Four continent and another month passed by successful welcoming, the beautiful summer. The spring rain was leaving, and for the first time since forever, Ravensville was going to be at an all-time high temperature that season's summer.
