Break it at all costs.
Thanos made his choice immediately.
But he would soon regret it.
In the villa, the dubbed Animal World played on the TV. The passionate chanting from the voiceover continued:
"My God King~""I see the stars blooming, let me perish in the stars.""The flowing galaxy has overflowed, can you who wander in the galaxy release infinite power again?"
On the screen, the agile cheetah galloped across the prairie, attacking its prey relentlessly. The starry night sky sparkled brilliantly, as if the galaxy itself had flipped upside down.
When the segment ended, the strong cheetah had completed its hunt and now sat calmly on the grass, grooming itself and licking its paws.
The prey was surprised—there were no injuries from the attack, only the faint crystal sheen of sweat from resisting the cheetah's relentless assault, its fur damp and sticking to its face.
After a while, the strong cheetah, now dressed in a light, flowing gown, walked to the balcony with a glass of wine. She gazed at the starry sky.
At that moment, white arms wrapped around her waist. Ophelia rested her delicate head on her shoulder and asked sweetly, "My dear God King, what are you looking at?"
"I'm watching a prey struggle in desperate circumstances."
"Are you talking about me?"
Ophelia's voice was teasing. This isn't right. If you're defeated, you're defeated—why humiliate others? That's just cruel.
Leon chuckled softly. "I'm not talking about you, Ophelia."
He stared deeply into the stars, through the endless void, past the solar system, and across the Milky Way, observing a ferocious battle taking place in a distant galaxy. It was more than a fight—it was a chaotic chase, a panicked slaughter.
Ophelia tilted her head. "Who are you talking about? Did the Salina team encounter an enemy?"
"Hmm," Leon replied, sipping his wine, silent.
"Is the enemy strong?" she asked, surprised. Normally, Leon wouldn't personally pay attention to just any prey.
"It's not about strength," Leon said slowly. "It's… somewhat special."
For Earth, Thanos was incredibly strong—not just because of his own abilities, but because of the vast army of multiple races at his command.
But in the Sanctuary, Thanos could only truly match a Saint with the sixth sense. Against three with the seventh sense, he would be utterly outclassed.
If not for Thanos' special traits, vast knowledge, and super-high combat IQ, he wouldn't even survive against them without the Infinity Gems. Otherwise, he would have been wiped out instantly.
Only Thanos could barely hold his ground; the others—sub-fathers and similar beings—would die horribly.
The Saints' combat system was perfected. A flawless hexagonal power system was overwhelming for any weaker foe. Thanos could resist only because he was exceptional in every aspect: strength, speed, explosiveness, endurance, self-healing, and the unique ability to perceive and analyze the essence of an entire galaxy at will.
Everything he had accumulated was pure combat capability.
And yet, even he could not match three gold saints with seventh-sense powers simultaneously.
Leon was slightly surprised that Salina and the others targeted Thanos so quickly—and found him so efficiently.
But as he "observed" the Milky Way, from a godlike perspective, everything became clear.
Thanos was attempting to use the Power Gem to sow chaos in the galaxy to further his own goals. He didn't anticipate that Salina and the others would intercept him and even strike his forces along the nebula.
Thanos must have been utterly perplexed. Seeing him beaten and bewildered, Leon couldn't help but laugh.
Then he grew serious. Destiny… let's see how your so-called destiny unfolds.
Leon suspected this was a test. According to the sacred timeline of the main universe, Thanos truly was "destined." This rampage era, the crises, the major events—they all stemmed from that destiny.
Would he die before fulfilling his role? What was the purpose of his mission?
At present, Leon could monitor an entire single universe and observe someone across countless galaxies. He saw the battle between Thanos and Master Salina clearly.
He tried to probe Thanos' inner mind and memories, but an unknown higher-dimensional force blocked him. The moment he made contact, he felt threatened—he could not intrude further.
Death.
Leon realized the presence: not Hela, the Asgardian goddess, but Death itself—one of the five great cosmic deities. The embodiment of the end of all life in the multiverse, balancing existence against Eternity.
Alongside Death were Planet Devourer, Eternity, Infinity, and Annihilation. Together, they oversaw all life, death, and creation in the multiverse.
Death had unlimited power: she could manipulate life and death, kill or resurrect beings across the multiverse, and control the souls of all living things. Only beings of transcendent power could truly challenge her.
But Death could not directly interfere with mortal life. She needed an agent—Thanos.
Thanos' birth, upbringing, and entire existence were shaped by Death's influence. He loved her, served her, and slaughtered countless beings to earn her favor.
His so-called "universal balance" was nothing compared to his devotion to Death.
Leon had long suspected this relationship, but now he was certain.
Despite Death's power, Leon felt no fear. Her interference had limits, and she had preferences. Thanos was her agent, but she might favor another yet unborn. His concern was manageable.
This was Leon's first true contact with higher-dimensional forces. He also sought to determine whether his actions, which had broken the sacred timeline, had been noticed by these gods.
"Thanos~~"
"Let's see if you are still alive!!"
Leon's eyes glowed with golden ripples.
Boom!
"Damn it!!" Thanos roared as a devastating punch struck him. Blood spewed from his mouth as he transformed into a beam of energy, smashing through countless planets and meteors before landing on a desolate world, shattering the surface with massive cracks.
Thanos clawed himself out of the crater. Looking up, he saw the golden figure above him, regal and merciless, as if observing a helpless reptile.
Rage and humiliation surged within him. But he was not ordinary—his fury was tempered by reason. He needed calm. He needed a way to escape.
After repeated assaults, his armor was shattered, his helmet broken, leaving only the Tyrant Sword intact.
"Every attack… devastating. Atomic-level destruction. A series of moves that affect mind, body, and soul… super-speed attacks… psychic manipulation…"
Thanos' teeth clenched. Even with his experience and intelligence, he could find no way out. Every action was anticipated, every escape a trap. A large portion of his upper body was broken, though his regenerative ability saved him.
He sensed that the universe's future had shifted. The source of this disruption seemed to emanate from the Milky Way—specifically, from one planet: Earth.
But he dared not set foot there because of the Supreme Sorcerer, Odin, and other powerful gods.
His plan, to fish chaos from the galaxy using the Power Gem, had been interrupted by three immensely powerful individuals.
"What happened on that planet? Why are these three here?" Thanos wondered. His curiosity about Earth outweighed even concern for his own survival.
A calm voice reached him:
"If you have decided, atone for your sins under the gaze of countless souls."
Basang hovered in the sky, palms together, golden light blazing as a terrifying microcosm erupted around him.
In an instant, Thanos saw the vast cosmic visions: Eastern Heaven, the ancient Leiyin Temple, Amitabha preaching, the twenty-four gods of India. Against this sacred might, he felt as insignificant as a reptile.
For a moment, remorse stirred in him. Then his eyes burned scarlet, and he roared at the illusions above.
