Ken had transmigrated.
A loyal Dragon Ball fan, Ken had stumbled across a certain Vados-themed doujinshi, and as if unlocking the door to a whole new world, he found himself completely captivated by her story.
Then one night, under the light of the moon, he inexplicably transmigrated—becoming a Saiyan on Planet Vegeta in the world of Dragon Ball.
Alongside his initial confusion and shock, Ken also felt a wave of excitement… and disappointment.
Excited because he'd finally entered the world of Dragon Ball—and as a Saiyan, no less.
Disappointed because… damn it, he wanted to be an Angel!
While watching Dragon Ball Super, Ken's favorite characters had always been the Angels.
After all, Angels were true gods—immortal and all-powerful.
And among the Angels were three particularly stunning goddesses: Vados from Universe 6, Marcarita from Universe 11, and Kusu from Universe 10.
Especially Vados… her doujinshi... chef's kiss...
Sure, their skin color differed from Saiyans or Earthlings…
But that wasn't important.
They were gods, weren't they? Changing skin tone should be child's play.
Ken was the same age as Vegeta, and his parents had once been top-tier elite warriors under King Vegeta's command.
Shortly after his birth, though, Ken's parents perished during a mission when their spacecraft was struck by a meteor in deep space.
The Saiyans were a warrior race, constantly fighting offworld—and many had died in battle.
Now, the once-bustling Planet Vegeta was home to just a few thousand people.
Orphans like Ken were all too common.
Sometimes Ken really wanted to rant: "You call yourselves a warrior race, but you can't even survive in space?"
Seriously, just destroying your planet is an easy way to eliminate you!
Ken's innate talent wasn't bad—his power level was 600 at birth, nearly on par with Vegeta's.
And by the age of four, Ken had already pushed his power level to 20,000.
But for Ken, that still wasn't enough.
However, King Vegeta was terrified.
From that moment on, Vegeta grew up living in Ken's overwhelming shadow.
Fortunately—or so it seemed—starting the very next day, Ken's power level began to plummet like a downhill slide for reasons unknown.
King Vegeta quietly investigated and discovered that Whis, the mysterious attendant of Lord Beerus, had accepted a strange-tasting sausage from Ken. In return, he gave Ken a book.
For the past year, Ken had immersed himself in the training methods detailed in that book.
And his power level steadily declined.
In just one year, his power dropped from 20,000 to 200.
King Vegeta was both relieved and heartbroken.
A promising genius warrior, wasted just like that.
Whis was clearly a scammer.
Also, just what the hell did Ken feed him? That sausage must've been nasty to earn that kind of revenge!
At one point, King Vegeta even summoned Ken for a heartfelt talk, advising him to stop studying the strange book.
But Ken remained unmoved, continuing to study and train his own way.
Eventually, King Vegeta gave up.
To him and the other Saiyans, Ken was now a lost cause.
But Ken was perfectly content.
Everyone else thought Whis was merely a servant of the God of Destruction.
But as a die-hard Dragon Ball fan, Ken knew the truth: Whis was the real deal.
He was exactly what Ken wanted to become—an Angel.
During the Tournament of Power, entire universes were erased by the hand of Zeno.
All their gods and planets vanished in an instant.
Only the Angels remained.
In fact, even Gods of Destruction had once been elite beings chosen from among mortal races.
But Angels were different—they were born divine, with incredible power.
And only by becoming an Angel could Ken truly cherish someone like Vados. Right?
What right did a mere mortal have to "study her more deeply"?
So the first step was mastering Ultra Instinct.
At least in Dragon Ball Super, Goku's journey with Ultra Instinct was clearly leading toward the path of the Angels.
The road looked difficult.
But if it meant becoming a true Angel, Ken would face it no matter how hard.
After a year of effort, Ken had finally shed most of his previously cultivated energy and managed to condense a faint, murky version of Divine ki.
Though impure, this Divine ki still retained some of its core attributes.
So what could Divine ki do?
Through a year of research—and drawing on his fan knowledge—Ken had developed a clear understanding:
Divine ki was essentially a universal energy source.
Or more aptly, a form of omnipotent magical energy.
There were no limits—only imagination.
It could be converted into destruction, healing, repair, elemental attacks, telekinesis, clairvoyance, resurrection…
It could even—if powerful enough—reverse time by several minutes.
Of course, Ken's current Divine ki wasn't anywhere near that level. The impurity made true time reversal impossible.
Even so, this was a small but solid step on the path to becoming an Angel.
To put it simply, training in Ultra Instinct was just refining Divine ki.
And through that process, Ken would gradually comprehend the true essence of Ultra Instinct.
Ken had willingly discarded his previous energy because it was useless in comparison. Against Divine ki, it was garbage-tier.
Sure, his current Divine ki wasn't very pure.
If we assume a real Angel's power purity was 100, then Ken's was barely a 1.
But even with that 1% purity, his destructive potential was still astronomical.
If one had to give that tiny bit of Divine ki a battle rating, Ken estimated it could easily reach 1 billion.
That was just from a trace of power at 1% purity.
And he hadn't even finished purging his old energy yet.
Once he did, his Divine ki purity—and thus his battle power—would skyrocket exponentially.
Ken looked up at the starry sky and shook his head hard.
There I go daydreaming again…
Overhead, spaceships came and went, frequently landing on Planet Vegeta.
As he watched more and more Saiyans return, Ken felt a mix of emotions.
According to the timeline, it wouldn't be long before Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta.
It was time to leave.
Ken had no interest in being a hero or pulling off a clichéd save-the-planet stunt.
Besides, Frieza wasn't even the real mastermind behind Planet Vegeta's destruction—it was Lord Beerus.
It wasn't that Beerus held a grudge. Planet Vegeta's existence had simply disrupted the balance of the universe.
Though Frieza did take the opportunity to act on some petty revenge.
"Vegeta, ever thought about going offworld to fight lately? I know a great place," Ken asked, turning back before leaving.
He planned to hitch a ride on Vegeta's spaceship, not to pick a fight with Frieza or anything.
Ken's motto was: lay low, power up, become an Angel… and marry Vados.
"What, you wanna tag along with me on my missions?" Vegeta quickly understood.
"When are you heading out?" Ken asked.
"Hmph! As if I'd take you with me. You'd just slow me down!" Vegeta sneered, chin raised high. "Your power level is only 100—how embarrassing would it be for a prince to travel with you?"
"…Don't you know I specialize in healing techniques?" Ken replied with a mysterious smile.
"Healing techniques?" Vegeta froze, staring at him without blinking.
Ken kept smiling.
Vegeta suddenly recalled the way Ken had just restored his broken scouter.
"You mean... you can fix a scouter, and you think you can fix me, too?" Ken chuckled. "Don't believe me? I'll show you right now."
"Show me?" Vegeta blinked again, stunned.
