The hatch slid open violently.
No warning. No communication.
In the next instant, a dense swarm of alien insects poured out of the opening like a black tide. Their sizes varied but they all shared the same traits: dull, hardened exoskeletons, compound eyes flashing with bloodthirsty red light, and sharp mandibles clacking nonstop with a harsh "ka-cha, ka-cha" screech.
These horrifying creatures fell like lethal raindrops, rattling down onto skyscrapers, streets, and public plazas.
The moment they hit the ground, the swarm didn't hesitate for even a second. It began frenzied destruction and devouring.
They tore at reinforced concrete buildings with powerful forelimbs and razor jaws. Glass curtain walls shattered like paper. Cars were flipped. Streetlights were snapped in half. The teeth-grinding crunch of chewing, the booming collapse of buildings, and the swarm's own high-frequency shrieks instantly ripped the city's harmony to pieces, weaving it into a symphony of destruction.
The park wasn't spared either.
Several smaller scout bugs were the first to spot a "food… food… food" source on a bench. Their transparent wings vibrated as they let out excited screeches and dove straight at Saitama.
The noise finally pierced Saitama's sleep.
He frowned—barely any eyebrows to frown with—his eyelids twitching a few times before he groggily opened them. The first thing he saw was a few bugs lunging with bared mandibles, corrosive slime dripping from their mouthparts.
"Ah… so noisy."
Muttering with obvious irritation at being disturbed, he slowly sat up and brushed imaginary dust off his cheap yellow suit.
Just as the first bug's sharp forelimb was about to reach his face, Saitama's casual glance landed on a public trash can beside the bench.
Its metal lid looked a bit loose.
With one easy pull, he snapped the round lid off—like he was picking up a cup.
"Seriously… can't even take a peaceful nap."
The complaint hadn't even finished leaving his mouth when Saitama lazily swung his arm.
It looked like a careless motion, but it made that ordinary trash-can lid erupt with terrifying force. A short, violent boom cracked through the air!
Bang!
The metal lid sliced through in a blur, tracing an arc and smacking straight into the diving bugs. There was no struggle, no resistance. Against absolute strength, their hard exoskeletons were as fragile as eggshells.
In an instant, more than a dozen insects were smashed into pulp. Thick, sticky green fluid sprayed everywhere with a nauseating stench, splattering the ground into bizarre patterns.
Saitama glanced at the lid now smeared with green slime and casually tossed it aside.
"Gross."
He stood up and looked around.
More insects were pouring in from all directions, compound eyes locked onto him—the only living thing left. The park's grass, walkways, even the children's slide, were crawling with these sickening creatures.
"Seriously, it never ends…"
Saitama sighed, his expression still carrying that familiar blankness and helpless annoyance. He stepped forward and threw a punch toward the surging tide of insects.
No flashy light. No complicated technique.
Just the simplest, most direct straight punch.
Boom—!
Where the punch wind passed, the air compressed violently, forming a visible transparent shockwave. Like a tsunami, it shoved forward in a sweeping line—and every insect in its path, no matter the size, had its body twist and deform the instant it was touched, before bursting apart.
