Saitama looked at the fuel tanker truck flying back through the air, then at the two big guys about to clash fists again, and then at the shopping bag in his hand.
"If they keep fighting like this… it might spill over to my side. I haven't even eaten the discounted meat yet."
He decided to intervene.
At the very instant Hulk and the giant ape raised those massive fists each punch powerful enough to flatten a small hill and were about to collide again
Saitama's figure appeared between them at some unknown point in time.
Facing Hulk's incoming green fist and the giant ape's incoming furry fist, he casually threw a punch with each hand.
"Thud!" "Bang!"
Two extremely heavy, muffled impacts, almost overlapping into one.
Time seemed to freeze again.
Hulk felt an indescribable force transmit through his fist—far beyond anything he'd imagined. It didn't feel like trading punches at all.
It felt more like he'd slammed headfirst into a small asteroid flying straight at him.
His enormous body staggered back uncontrollably three full steps. Each step left a deep footprint in the ground. For the first time, clear shock and blank confusion appeared on his green face.
On the other side, the giant ape's experience was completely different.
What it felt was a destructive, absolute force it could not resist in any way. Its fist, its arm, even the bones of its entire body seemed to wail under the load in that instant.
It didn't even get a full scream out before its gigantic body was launched off the ground, as if it had been rammed head-on by a full-speed battleship.
It flew hundreds of meters and smashed into a massive abandoned smokestack at the edge of the industrial district.
Boom!!!
A heaven-shaking explosion. Bricks blasted everywhere. The tall smokestack was struck clean through the middle—its upper half slowly tilting, then collapsing down, kicking up a sky-high cloud of dust.
The giant ape lay buried under the rubble, completely motionless.
Soon, its body began shrinking rapidly, returning to the ordinary size of a lab monkey, unconscious.
The industrial district's roaring and screaming vanished, leaving only the crackle of burning flames.
Hulk shook out the fist that had gone a little numb. He looked at the distant pile of ruins, then at the bald man standing in the middle.
The anger on his face slowly faded. He scratched his green head, as if he finally understood what had just happened.
Then he gave Saitama a simple, almost bashful smile.
Saitama looked at Hulk, nodded, and lifted the shopping bag in his hand a little.
"Done fighting? Then I'm going home."
He turned and left, thinking to himself: Tonight, I can have hotpot.
Afternoon sunlight filtered lazily through thin clouds, spilling over a park in Z City.
Saitama lay flat on an old, slightly worn bench, hands folded over his stomach. His shiny head rose and fell with steady breathing—he was clearly deep asleep.
Around him were only the soft rustle of leaves in the breeze, and faint city background noise far in the distance. Everything felt peaceful and lazy.
But that calm didn't last long.
At first, a low, unsettling hum appeared—like countless enormous bees beating their wings at once. The sound rapidly approached, growing sharper and more penetrating, until even the air seemed to vibrate with it.
In the sky, several twisted points of light appeared out of nowhere, quickly expanding into several small aircraft with vicious, unnatural shapes—nothing that matched any known principles of aerodynamics.
They were dark purple all over, their surfaces patterned like insect shells. They floated silently above the city, casting ominous shadows.
