The ten-thousand-year ice sheet was smashed apart from below by a brutal force, sending chunks of ice flying everywhere. Along with a roar that shook the frozen plain, a colossal creature awakened from the ice.
It was covered in thick brown fur, like a moving hill. Huge curved tusks gleamed with cold light, and its blood-red eyes held nothing but primal savagery. This was a giant beast that should've belonged to the Ice Age—yet for some unknown reason it had remained sealed in ice until now. Now that it had awakened, hunger and rage drove it toward the place with the strongest human scent—the research team's supply station.
Thor Odinson was among the first to answer the distress call. Riding lightning, he slammed down from the sky and roared as he swung Mjolnir.
"In the name of Asgard, you will not advance, monster!"
The God of Thunder's hammer, carrying crushing lightning, smashed straight into the beast's forehead.
But a blow that could've collapsed a fortress wall only made the beast's head wobble slightly.
Its thick fur and layers of fat formed an unbelievable natural shock absorber, and the hardness of its skull was beyond imagination. Enraged, the beast let out an even louder roar. Its thick tail swept out like a massive siege hammer—terrifyingly fast.
Thor was caught off guard. The tail struck him head-on, and he was launched like a baseball, instantly turning into a streak as he flew backward and smashed into a distant ice cliff, blasting ice shards into the air.
The beast ignored Thor after that. It stomped forward on pillar-like legs, thundering toward the supply station. The researchers huddled behind reinforced walls, watching that looming horror draw closer, feeling the ground quake beneath them, and in despair they shut their eyes.
The beast lowered its head. With its invincible tusks, it began ramming the station's metal outer wall. Every impact made the structure groan under the strain, leaving huge dents.
Just then, a Quinjet broke through the clouds and swept past at extremely low altitude. The hatch opened. Before the ramp even fully lowered, a bald man in a yellow suit with a white cape jumped straight down.
Saitama had hitched a ride with S.H.I.E.L.D., and he happened to see the beast ramming the wall with its tusks.
"Ah, is that the one?" he said, adjusting his posture in midair as he dropped like a cannonball.
He didn't choose anything flashy. He landed directly on top of the beast's fur-covered head. The feeling under his feet was a little prickly.
Sensing something on its head, the beast violently whipped its skull around, trying to fling Saitama off.
Saitama steadied himself, glanced at the beast's thick neck, then bent down and lightly tapped a fist into the spot where its cervical spine would be.
"Thud!"
A dull sound—not ear-splitting, yet it felt like it struck straight into the soul.
The beast, which had been ramming the wall like mad, froze instantly. All movement stopped. The savage light in its blood-red eyes rapidly dimmed… and went out.
Its enormous body stiffened for a moment—then crashed down, slamming into the ice. A huge shockwave mixed with snow and dust blasted outward, whipping the supply station's flags in the distance.
Everything went quiet.
Thor finally pulled himself out of the ice cliff and flew back to the battlefield—only to see the giant beast already down. He landed, stared at the corpse, then at the bald man brushing ice chunks off his cape, then back at the beast's body, which seemed to have no visible injuries at all.
His face was full of disbelief.
He walked over and gave the beast a cautious kick, confirming it was completely dead.
