Chapter 778 - Chapter 778

Stroking the stubble on his chin, he sized up Saitama, then couldn't help but sigh from the heart, "This guy's fist is even more straightforward than Stormbreaker."

Saitama looked at Thor, then at the Quinjet in the sky. "Are we done? If we're done, can you give me a ride back? There doesn't seem to be a supermarket around here."

Manhattan's bustling commercial district had already turned into a battlefield of steel. A top tech company's newly deployed city-security patrol robots "Sentry MKIII" suddenly went collectively out of control. Their core directives were tampered with by some unknown virus, turning them from protectors into cold-blooded destroyers.

Hundreds of bright silver, sleek humanoid robots formed an unstoppable iron torrent. They marched in perfect unison, their oppressive footsteps pushing down Fifth Avenue. Pulse guns mounted on their arms fired high-energy laser beams nonstop, blasting apart cars, streetlights, and storefront windows along the way. Screams mixed with explosions—total chaos.

The Avengers reacted immediately. Wasp, Hope van Dyne, shrank down to insect size, trying to use her agility to slip inside the robots and wreck their control lines from within. But the robots were fitted with precise internal defenses—micro high-voltage shock nets and concussion waves—forcing her to bounce back out.

Ant-Man, Scott Lang, grew huge, becoming a giant as he tried to use his body to block the advancing flood. But the robot legion instantly adjusted tactics—several units focused fire at once, converging high-energy lasers to slice through, leaving deep scorch marks across his hardened armor and forcing him to shrink back down in pain.

Their advance seemed unstoppable. The robots' core processors were interconnected, forming an efficient combat network that continuously adapted to the Avengers' tactics.

And right in front of that steel torrent, one figure looked completely out of place.

Saitama had just finished shopping and walked out of a supermarket, still holding a plastic bag printed with the store's logo. Inside were discounted eggs and bread. He stood at the street corner, looking at the oncoming robot army—and the wreckage it left behind.

"Ah… here we go again." He sighed, switching the bag to his other hand. "Can't a guy just buy groceries in peace?"

The robots' data-link instantly locked onto the lifeform standing in their path. The lead robot's eyes flashed red. It raised an arm; the pulse-gun muzzle gathered a blinding glow—whoosh! A lethal laser beam shot straight at Saitama.

Saitama only tilted his head slightly. The beam grazed past his ear by a hair's breadth, hitting the outer wall of a distant building behind him and leaving a charred, melted crater.

"…That was close. You almost hit my eggs." Saitama glanced at the plastic bag, confirmed it was fine, then turned his gaze back to the robot legion.

He looked left and right and spotted a sedan parked nearby, abandoned by its owner. He walked over, grabbed the car's chassis with one hand, and lifted the entire vehicle like it was a toy.

Then, facing the advancing robot army, he casually hurled the car.

The sedan tumbled through the air, carrying massive momentum as it slammed into the densest cluster of robots.

Boom! A thunderous crash—paired with a screech of twisting metal and shattering parts—instantly smashed at least seven or eight robots into scrap, tearing open a small clearing in the iron flood.
