Chapter 38 - Chapter 36: Shadows Without Faces

The Black Division Moves

Location: Skypiea Ruins – 2000 Meters Above Sea LevelTime: Nightfall – 5 Days After the Fall of the Supply Depot

The sky above the shattered ruins of the Upper Yard was silent.

The wind carried no birdsong. No voices. Only the whisper of movement. Almost imperceptible.

Twelve figures landed atop the crumbling pagoda in absolute silence. No parachutes. No noise. No hesitation.

Cloaked in pitch-black suits fused with Seastone thread, their masks were smooth, featureless, reflective like liquid metal. Each bore no name. No face. No soul.

This was Cipher Pol Zero – Black Division.

And they had only one target.

Command Unit 06 – Mission Briefing

A pale blue hologram glowed from the gauntlet of the lead operative.

🎯 Target: Vegito🎯 Secondary: Crew Members🔥 Objective: Non-negotiable elimination🚫 Rules of Engagement: Absolute Silence. No survivors. No witnesses.☠ Override Protocol 88: Permission to destroy islands is granted. Use of artificial Devil Fruits approved.

Unit 06 signed the briefing with a single motion: a flat palm dragged across the throat.

Location: The Sky Route — 8000 Meters in Altitude

CP-0 Black didn't sail ships.

They walked across the clouds.

Utilizing forbidden techniques derived from Rokushiki and Lunar Veil, they moved as if walking on air, rapidly descending toward the general path of the Hyperion, which had been marked from distant recon probes.

Each operative bore Prototype Zoan-type artificial fruits—untested, volatile, and fused with ancient DNA fragments.

One had wings of obsidian.

Another had claws of molten glass.

One shimmered with invisibility.

One was just... smoke—alive and cold.

They didn't speak. They didn't feel.

They hunted.

Flashback: Cipher Pol Black's Origin

The project began not long after the death of Gol D. Roger.

The Celestial Dragons demanded agents who could kill without question and without history. Born in labs beneath Mary Geoise, the Black Division were children grown in artificial wombs, fed a diet of silence, trauma, and control.

All but two died during final conditioning.

The twelve who remained were reprogrammed using memory-wipe injections and trauma-linked neuro-locks. Their pain tolerance exceeded any human baseline.

Their first mission? The invisible purge of Ohara's fleeing survivors. Even Robin never knew how many more had been erased.

And now, they were activated again—for one man.

Hyperion – Night Watch

Above the Grand Line, the Hyperion cruised quietly under a star-filled sky.

Vegito was in the gravity chamber, training under 700x Earth gravity, sweat rolling down his flawless body as his aura surged, condensing tighter than ever before.

Outside, Kuina was on deck, polishing Wado Ichimonji beneath moonlight, her senses keen. Lyra meditated with her spellstones, while Nami and Nojiko tended to the maps in their cabin.

No one knew what approached.

Not yet.

CP-0 Black Initiates Phase One

From the misty clouds, Unit 09 flickered into view like a ghost and released a sealed sphere.

It pulsed—no sound, no light—but a dense energy wave rippled invisibly through the air.

Onboard the Hyperion, the Seastone sensor grid flickered.

Robin narrowed her eyes.

"…Something's here."

Alert: Unknown Energy Signature Detected

Vegito appeared on the bridge within seconds, eyes glowing.

"Talk to me."

Robin, calm as ever, responded, "We're being scanned. It's not Den Den Mushi. It's… foreign."

Lyra opened her eyes.

"Dark magic. But artificial. This isn't from this world."

System Notification

⚠ Shadow-Class Encounter Initiated🕷 CP-0 Black Division Operatives Approaching⏳ Time to Contact: 17 Minutes💀 Danger: Fatal if unprepared💡 Recommendation: Activate Shipwide Battle Stations

Vegito smirked.

"Finally."

He turned to his crew.

"Prepare for a real test."

The air trembled. His aura ignited in silence.

Back With CP-0

Unit 01 blinked, transmitting final coordinates to the others. Twelve black-cloaked death machines adjusted their approach vectors. In 17 minutes, they would land.

No drama. No warning.

Just execution.

Until—

BOOM.

The clouds ruptured.

From the Hyperion, a blast of gravity and lightning sliced through the mist like a blade, annihilating Unit 07 mid-air before it even touched the hull.

The rest of the CP-0 team stopped cold in the air. A rare, flickering pause.

Vegito hovered above the ship, cloak fluttering, arms crossed.

"I was wondering how long the rats would hide."

He smiled, but his eyes were ice.

"Guess the World Government finally got serious."
