Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Austin was having lunch when Dennis and his son, Ethan, walked into the Lopez family mansion. They found the old Mrs. Lopez in the sitting room, watching the news. She was worried because the news had changed.

"The young man might not be the heir because Mrs. Lopez didn't give a clear evidence that the young man was the Henry everyone was looking for fifteen years...."

"The young man called himself Austin. Then why did Mrs. Lopez accept him as the heir?…"

"It seemed it was a setup to stop Ethan from becoming the heir of the Lopez family..."

The old Mrs. Lopez turned off the TV once she saw Dennis, and Ethan near.

"Good afternoon, Mom," Dennis said.

"Dennis, it is a surprise to see you," Mrs. Lopez said.

"As you also know, I don't used to come here if there is no important meeting. I am here because of the Henry you found. I'm not here to fight for my Ethan. I am here to fight for the Lopez family. As you can see, how could a 10 years old boy couldn't remember his name and you still choose him to be the heir even though there's no clear evidence he was him?"

"I have my reason. Are you also supporting those fake news I watch now?" Mrs. Lopez raised her eyebrows.

"I'm not supporting anybody, Mom. I'm supporting the future of our family. Mom, I want you to answer me this question and I don't want question for my questions. What is the evidence that the young man was Henry? Or do you have any other plans for this family and you don't want us to hear?"

The old Mrs. Lopez let out a heavy sigh and thought about the reason he accepted Austin in. The reason was clear to her, but not too many people. Then she ordered one guard to bring Austin.

She told Austin to face Dennis.

"As you can also see, didn't he resemble Anthony? By the look alone, my hunger to see Anthony again ceased the moment I set my eyes on him. Is that not enough reason to accept him back to his position?"

"Mom, that is not enough reason. There are a lot of things to do before you can bring him in, even if he is the heir. What would we show the people that he is the heir? People resemble each other so much. Many young people resemble Anthony out there. But, mummy, I want you to do something so that the people will keep quiet."

The old Mrs. Lopez let out a heavy sigh. "What?"

"You have many doctors at your command. Why can't they just let them do a DNA test with him? We need to know if he's blood-related to this Lopez family."

Mrs. Lopez thought about it for a moment. "You bring out the right answer." She then looked at Austin. "We would have to do a blood test with you before we can be sure if you are the real Henry, since you don't remember your childhood memories. Are you okay with it, or do you have another thing to tell us? Maybe you can tell us where you found the necklace."

"I will go for the test," Austin said with his heart beating fast. He believed the old Mr. Corey could not give him a gift that would make him suffer forever, since he was his savior from the very beginning.

If at all Mr. Corey stole it, he wouldn't still mention his name.

Dennis looked at Austin carefully and realized he looked like Anthony. Fear swirled within him because there was an 80 percent chance Austin was the heir. He didn't want his son to lose the position. So, he planned to do something to stop Austin from getting the heir position, even if he was the real Henry.

The old Mrs. Lopez called doctor Terry for the DNA test, and journalists to record the moment the doctor was taking blood from Austin's hand and Granny's.

"It will take me three weeks to bring the result," Doctor Terry said.

"No problem, Doctor Terry," Granny said, smiling, and then looked at Dennis and Ethan. "I would call for a family meeting and those journalists after the results. Doctor Terry would read it for us. And till then, Austin live with me."

Dennis flared his fake smile at the camera. "Very good. I can now say Granny is working for the betterment of Lopez's future."

The first day crawled like a snail, and Dennis worried a lot, but assured his son not to worry because it was easy to see Ethan's worry or happiness through his face.

"Dad, please allow me to worry. It's worth my worries. What if he was the real Henry?" Ethan asked.

"You worked hard for our family company. It is because of you that the profit increase to 50%. I will remind all of them at the meeting. That is why you shouldn't worry."

Ethan rubbed off his tears and hugged Dennis. "Thank you, Father."

"I need more cigarettes."

Ethan smiled. "Give me twenty minutes."

That night, at the mansion of the old Mrs. Lopez, Austin sat up on the bed as he saw Mrs. Lopez opening his room door.

"I hope you aren't feeling sleepy yet," she said as she sat beside him.

"Yes, ma."

"I am sure you're Anthony's son," she said, bringing out a ring. "But I'm scared they would take the heir position from you. Dennis and his son had worked hard for this family company. If I choose you as the heir just because you returned, it will displease many people. And I don't want the profit of this company to go down.

"That is why I bring this family heirloom. Once it touches your blood, you will get more money than our family. Nobody knows about it because it won't work if they are not the next heir. It is the only thing I got back from your father, hoping to see you one day so that you can have it. Bring your finger."

The old Mrs. Lopez put the ring on Austin's finger, and the ring glistened, making her smile, for it showed that Austin was the son of Anthony.

"It would stop glistening after an hour. You can let it touch your blood anytime you want. Don't rush yourself. Okay?"

Austin nodded, wondering how he would be rich with this glistening ring.
