Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Old Mrs. Lopez makes Austin sign every document related to the family company the moment he wakes up.

When the Lopez family gathered together to listen to what Doctor Terry had to say about Austin, Mrs. Lopez didn't allow the journalists to enter, nor did she listen to what Dennis had to say to convince her again.

The jeweler had already turned on the news, but they saw nothing and were wondering what was going on.

Doctor Terry glanced at Dennis, who had come to him and asked about the test. He told Dennis the truth, but Dennis wanted him to say otherwise.

Unknown to Dennis, Mrs. Lopez had explained how Austin would protect him if he showed the result as it was. Granny believed the heirloom changed Austin into an unbeatable, courageous new being. The whole person who cannot watch his lover suffer because of him.

Doctor Terry rose and cleared his throat. "As it is here on the paper, so shall I speak. Austin is the Henry we have been looking for because he is blood-related to the Lopez family."

"So, therefore," Mrs. Lopez rose and motioned for Doctor Terry to sit. "Austin is the heir to the Lopez family. If there's anyone here against Austin can talk now or keep quiet forever."

Dennis raised his hand and stood up. "Where should we put the effort Ethan makes on this company? He makes our profit increase and is still struggling to do more."

"It's up to Austin to reward him," she snapped back.

Austin rose as everyone was murmuring. Everyone except Ethan, who was trying hard enough to calm himself down.

"There's nothing anyone can do to reverse what Granny has already said. I have signed every document, but I won't show myself to the world that I am the heir. I will continue to act as if I am nothing, and I will let Ethan be the manager of our company. The journalists were already waiting outside. I will go out with Ethan, and I will open the car door for him so that everyone will think he is the heir."

Hearing this, Ethan rose and hugged Austin happily, but Dennis wasn't happy. Everyone except Dennis was pleased with what Austin said.

They all watched Austin putting the Lopez family necklace on Ethan's neck.

"So, I want everyone to bear with me and keep it a secret that I am the heir. Whatever help you want from the heir, you can call or visit Ethan," Austin said.

"I will make sure nobody hurts you again," Ethan said and followed Austin out.

Ethan entered his car majestically as Austin opened the car door for him. All the journalists swiftly recorded the scene in awe, for they couldn't understand what was going on.

It was other Lopez family members who were telling the journalists that Ethan was the heir and had vowed to protect Austin from harm.

All the jewelers jumped up for joy and hugged themselves happily.

When Austin returned to the sitting room, Mrs. Morrison gave him an ATM card with honor for using wisdom to settle everyone in the meeting. She wasn't expecting peace. She was expecting Austin to clinch his position.

"I want to tell you something, Austin. Can you have a seat?" the old Mrs. Lopez said.

Austin sat and paid total attention to her.

"My husband, before he died, agreed with Mr. Lewis to let the next heir marry their daughter. Your father, before he died, had already signed the agreement. What would you say? Would you honor the dead?" She placed the agreement paper before him.

Austin let out a heavy sigh. "If that is what I have to do. I accept, but tell Mr. Lewis not to tell the girl and his family I am the heir. I will have to pretend I am poor until the girl likes me as I am."

Tears crawled down her face. "It is tears of joy. Thank you for honoring my husband's wishes. You can't understand how I feel about it."

Austin smiled and put the ATM card into his pocket before hugging her when her tears refused to stop again.

"You would see a new small phone on the table in your room. You would see my contact and Ethan's number there. Please make sure you call me or him if anyone tries to bully you outside. It is not everywhere that you can show your martial skills. Okay?"

Austin nodded and then smiled.

That afternoon, Austin went back to the Gemstone Oasis store to buy a new necklace. The moment he stepped in, the jeweler burst into serious laughter. He knew they were laughing at him and remembered how they had harmed him the other day. But he ignored them and paid his attention to the different necklaces hanging on the decorated wall.

"Why don't you come here first? Do you want to steal another one the way you stole the Lopez necklace?" the first jeweler asked, and the rest laughed.

"We've got many cameras watching you. So touch nothing there," the second jeweler said.

"Look here. Can you remember how we beat you that day? If you try nonsense again, we will take you to another beating level," another jeweler said.

"Where are you coming from? Did you even bathe today? You cannot afford to buy one necklace. Or have you stolen money from the Lopez family?" the first jeweler shouted at him.

Austin couldn't take the insult anymore, and he didn't want to show them his martial skills there, and didn't want anyone to have a glimpse of him being the heir. He took out his phone and called Ethan.

"Those jewelers at the Gemstone Oasis were insulting me. It seemed they wanted to beat me again."

"Give me five minutes. I will make them regret everything they ever did to you," Ethan said and hung up the call.

The first jeweler walked close to him. "Who did you call? Your other gangs?"

Austin ignored him and touched the necklace to feel how cool it was. The jeweler walked to him after some minutes and grabbed his hand, pulling his hair.

"You're too proud. Don't you hear what I'm saying?"

"Don't touch my hair?" Austin said, and what the jeweler heard next was the slap of a hard hand from the back.

When the jeweler was about to turn back, he received a kick on his leg, and he fell flat on the floor with his head bouncing on the ground.

The other jewelers knelt in surrender and followed the soldiers who signaled them to move into the car outside. The soldiers carried the first jeweler from the floor into the car and drove away.

The owners of the Gemstone Oasis stood before Austin, shaking uncontrollably.

"What do you want, Master?"

Austin took the necklace he had touched earlier and brought out his ATM card.

"You don't need to pay for anything. Master Ethan has already bought this place for you and am here to supervise it for you."

"It's fine. Make sure you employ good people and don't tell anyone I owned this place," Austin said.

"Okay, sir," he said and watched Austin put his card into his pocket before walking out.
