MHGA Chapter 275: The Fool and the Hermit
Seeing Joseph's sudden move, Caesar panicked and rushed forward to catch up.
"Joseph! What are you thinking?! What the hell are you planning to do!!?"
"Get out of my way!!" Joseph roared at Caesar. "Don't get in the way here! Kars is after me!!!"
Joseph couldn't bear to imagine what might happen if Caesar followed him.
Would he still die just like fate had originally dictated?
He couldn't take that gamble.
So Joseph had no choice but to draw Kars away alone—
To completely rewrite fate.
But Caesar still chased him doggedly from behind.
"There's no way I'm letting you fight alone!! I'm a Ripple warrior too!!!"
"You can't beat Kars!!!" Joseph shouted back mid-run.
"How would you know if you don't try?!" Caesar shouted in return.
"Joseph! You idiot! You think you can take everything on all by yourself?!"
"You're the idiot! The biggest idiot of all!!" Joseph roared. "You'll die!!"
"I was supposed to die anyway! If not for you saving me!" Caesar shouted back.
"And now you want me to let you go off into danger alone?! That's not fate…
That's just your cowardice, Joseph Joestar!!!!"
"We're going to defeat Kars!!! Even if this is how it is! We're going to beat him!!!!"
Caesar's voice drowned out Joseph's, filling him with emotion even through his fear.
And all of it turned into hesitation…
Now, Joseph really didn't know what to do anymore.
He felt like he was truly being swept along by this endless fate—
Back into the tragic path that had always belonged to Joseph Joestar.
And just then, in that brief moment of despair, a voice rang in Joseph's ear.
It was Kairo Retsu's voice.
"Hey! Joseph! I've got a gift for you!"
Kairo was speaking to Joseph via the Assembly's voice channel in private.
"What are you up to right now?"
"Guildmaster…"
Kairo's sudden voice sparked a glimmer of hope within the fate-stricken Joseph.
"Help me!! Help me defeat Kars! Help me change this damned fate!"
"?!"
Kairo froze for a second, then understood:
"Don't know exactly what's going on… but I got it!"
"Joseph!! Your problem's mine now!! Guildmaster's got your back!!"
Caesar looked at Joseph—now yelling to no one—utterly baffled.
"Joseph! Are you insane?! Who the hell are you talking to?!"
"He's my comrade!"
At this moment, it was as if Joseph had finally found something to steady him.
He calmed down.
"We're going to win!!"
Up above, Kars had already locked on to Joseph and Caesar as they fled, preparing to dive in for a full-force strike.
Meanwhile, Joseph had reached a German fighter plane and jumped in, launching it into the air.
At the critical moment, Caesar managed to grab onto the aircraft and pulled himself into the back seat.
"Joseph! What do we do now?!" Caesar yelled, flinging Ripple-infused bubbles to intercept Kars behind them.
"Simple! We take Kars somewhere empty—
And eliminate him!!" Joseph shouted back.
"Caesar! Let's face fate head-on!!"
While using Hermit Purple to control the fighter plane, Joseph kicked open the cockpit window and leaned out—
With a machine gun in hand, he unleashed a barrage of fire on Kars.
"Muda muda!! Weak weapons like these are useless against me!!!"
Kars laughed wildly, sending out his feathers that transformed into a chitinous armor, deflecting the machine gun rounds.
At this point, Joseph and Caesar had entered a high-speed aerial dogfight with Kars.
"Joseph, this isn't working," Caesar shouted.
"If we keep this up, it's going to end in failure!"
"I know! I'm waiting for a plan to arrive!" Joseph shouted back.
"I can do this… Even if Kars is that powerful, in the end, he's just a living creature…"
"You're right. No matter how powerful Kars is, he's still just a living creature."
A third voice suddenly appeared inside the cockpit—
And Caesar reflexively launched a Ripple attack in the direction it came from.
"Whoa—!"
Joseph blocked Caesar's attack in place of Kairo, and looked at the newcomer with joy.
It was Kairo Retsu, who had appeared in the cockpit alongside a Felyne wearing a backpack.
"Guildmaster!"
"Who the hell are you?!" Caesar stared at the stranger, stunned.
But Kairo looked at Caesar with excitement.
"So it's already come to this, huh? An Ultimate Life Form chasing a fighter plane…
And Caesar, you're still alive!! Joseph, nice work!!!"
"Cut the chatter, Guildmaster! We can't count on Kars getting launched into space like before!"
"Of course… we can't. But you know, Kars isn't the real problem. The real enemy is fate."
Kairo's expression turned serious.
"To change a death written in fate… it only brings an even greater death in return… You understand what I mean?"
Just like Rolling Stones in Golden Wind—
Resisting fate only leads to greater disaster.
That was the fate within Joseph's story.
Even the legendary Joestar luck was just an ant before the weight of fate.
"So!! Let's break fate together! You know what we Hunters are all about!!"
Kairo shouted:
"Joseph! Head for the volcano!!"
Joseph was momentarily confused—
But then he understood what Kairo meant.
His face lit up with unrestrained joy.
"Alright!!!"
Joseph turned the plane sharply and headed straight toward the volcano that, in the original fate, had sealed Kars.
"What the hell are you two talking about?"
At this point, Caesar felt like he was dealing with a raving Dio—
Completely lost in their conversation.
"Joseph! What are you even trying to do?!"
"Caesar… can you fly a plane?"
Joseph suddenly asked.
"You…"
"Don't answer a question with a question!! Just tell me!! Can you or can't you!!!"
Joseph bellowed.
"I can fly it!"
Caesar shouted back, bracing himself.
"Then! The plane's yours in a moment!!!"
Joseph roared:
"Remember! No matter what happens next—
Stay calm!!!"
"This is me—Joseph—no!
Joseph Joestar! Betting the Joestar name!
Betting the honor of my grandfather, Jonathan Joestar!
The most serious request I've ever made in my entire life!!"
Joseph spoke with a tone Caesar had never heard from him before—
A voice deadly serious.
"Caesar! I'm counting on you for everything!!"
