Chapter 6 - sixth child

Anonymous Point of View

Is this what I truly want? No, I didn't choose this, but I had no choice.

It all began two years ago when I awakened at the age of seven. Because of this, the Imperial Family took me in and appointed me as a servant to the First Prince, who was six years old at the time.

He's just an ordinary, unawakened person—and on top of that, he's arrogant and haughty. But that's only because the Empress spoils him so much.

Sitting before me is a boy with brown hair and brown eyes, wearing luxurious clothes at an ornate desk. He's trying to solve his schoolwork, which is incredibly easy, yet he never pays attention or even reads. In the end, he'll just ask me to do it for him.

I have to find a way out. I can't keep living like this. I have to find a way to escape.

"Felix, bring me some tea," the First Prince said to me.

"At once," I replied.

I left the room, walked down the corridor to the kitchen, got the tea, and returned.

"You're late," the First Prince said.

"I apologize," I replied, bowing my head.

He drank the tea, then got up from the desk. I knew what he was about to say.

"I have more important matters to attend to now. Solve my assignments for me this time," he said.

"Understood," I replied.

As usual, that's what he says when he can't solve them. Afterward, he goes to play, and no one ever checks up on him.

Night fell, and I returned to my room. Tomorrow, we are going to a banquet. I must prepare. This isn't just any banquet; it's one hosted by a family likely to become the sovereign of the Northern families.

The Empress wants the First Prince to gain the support of this family. That's why, despite the long distance, she decided to send him.

I'll sleep now. There's no need for any more thought.

Morning came. I put on my clothes, prepared myself, and headed for the carriage. The First Prince arrived shortly after, and we set off.

As we were on our way, the Prince spoke.

"Since you are my only aide, I will tell you a few secrets."

I looked at him with great interest.

"We are on the Central Continent, ruled by the Empire. You already know the status of the left and right continents. But there is something no one knows about the Central Continent."

"What is it?" I asked.

"There is a *******."

What?! Is what he said true? This is a disaster for the continent! Have they underestimated this to such an extent? It might not be a problem now, but who knows what will happen later?

I smelled a strange scent, and then a weird, numbing smoke appeared. All the knights fell as if they were children. It was a potent gas, knocking down every soldier. The only ones who remained awake were the Prince and me.

I got out of the carriage and activated my unique ability, the Shield. A thin, transparent shield surrounded me, solid as steel.

Then I dismantled the shield.

The shield shattered, resulting in a massive rush of air from all directions that cleared the smoke, but...

Five people wearing black clothes immediately attacked me. I couldn't activate the shield due to the cooldown period.

I was struck on the neck. My mind went calm, and I began to recall everything that had happened just moments ago, from the moment we got into the carriage until now. Then I remembered what he had said.

"There is a sleeping dragon deep within the Empire, and dragons are intelligent, demonic creatures of immense power, a danger to the world."

Then, everything went black.
