Chapter 19 - APPLE

Hearing Aurora tell that story to Dawn made Elliot go back in memories, so he stood at the door frame as Aurora told her the story.

Suddenly, Aurora was asleep, Dawn was asleep too, it looked cute.

So he decided to lie down next to them, it was warm and cozy, and as he fell asleep, the memories he was in began to replay…

——————

I was up late today, but I'm fine with it, my body runs on low power anyway.

I was sitting at my desk in my room, studying and doing some missing assignments, thank God they dropped most of it.

I looked at the clock, it was 1:25. To most it's not that late, but not to me.

I usually sleep at 11. But I only have 2 assignments left and I can go to sleep.

I was able to finish them in record time, immediately pouncing onto my bed, I felt like my whole body was suddenly engulfed by a wave of comfort.

Now that I think about it, what would it feel like to sleep with my wife and kid in the future, like in the movies?

Probably maximum comfort… not really, but I think that maybe everything will be so uncomfortable that it'll feel comfortable.

I drifted off to sleep, waking up in the morning, when the sun is shining in from the window and peeking from behind the curtains, like a leak in a boat.

I got up, looking around the room that was damp with sunlight, it was a half-mess, but i don't mind it, as long as it doesn't get in my way.

I walk out the room without fixing it, it's been 3 days since I last tidied it… but at least the window's always open to not give it a smell.

I immediately got ready for school, wearing my usual shirt and jeans, for some reason, I like wearing formal, makes me feel sophisticated.

At school, I was sitting in my usual seat which was next to Aurora's desk, to the left to be specific.

"Hey…" I hear Aurora greet me as she sits at her desk, her tone seemed tired.

"HI! what's up?" I asked, trying to get close to her… I want to be close to her.

"Just tired… You?" She responded, I hate how she's tired…

"Just found out that I'm excused from 70% of my missing assignments." I said, trying to keep it casual but excited at talking to her.

But as I said that she suddenly fell asleep on the desk, her face was so peaceful, I don't wanna wake her.

After waiting a few minutes, the teacher walked in, putting down her bag down.

The whole class calmed down and sat down at their seats, I was already in my seat so no worries!

The teacher began talking about today's lesson, but she paused mid sentence and walked to Aurora's desk and slammed her hand on it.

Aurora jolted awake, and as soon as she did, the teacher began screaming, I wasn't able to catch a thing she said.

I watched as Aurora got chewed up for just falling asleep… this teacher is such a… evil person? No, villain? Whatever! I GET MY POINT!

At lunch, I looked at Aurora, who walked to me and told me to follow her… so I did.

She took me to the garden, it was a nice place, especially a nice place to hang out.

She sat on a bench, but I stayed standing up awkwardly, because I don't want to be physically close… something about it freaks me out.

I even kept my eye away to not appear like a creep, but I heard a "sit" from her, when I looked at her, she was patting the spot next to her.

I sat down, still not looking at her, but i was sitting down.

We kept sitting in awkward, but suddenly she called my name, before she picked an apple and threw it to me.

I stared at her, at the kind gesture, I took a bite not caring about the fact that it's unwashed, it was picked by her in the end.

If only she knew that the Greek do these things, like Aphrodite did, I guess she isn't that all-knowing after all.

Wait, what if she knew? Nah, improbable.

She then speed walked away, leaving me behind in the garden, the rustling leaves, the quiet wind, the muffled sound of students talking, each creating a big background song.

The vivid color of the trees, and the sunny sky with an ominous but small cloud creating a scenery that's natural.

How I love observing nature… not when it tries to kill me though.

Later, after school, I was heading out of the class, so I went to my locker, opening it and taking out an umbrella since I can hear the platter of rain.

This is what I use my locker for, not to put my books, cause I don't trust this school enough, so convenient stuff like this are here.

I was walking to the exit when I caught Aurora almost walking into the rain without an umbrella.

So I called out and caught up to her.

"Let's walk together!" I suggested, she almost immediately agreed. I don't want her to catch a cold…

Throughout the walk, it was silent, but I didn't mind it, in the end it's just a walk… a beautiful walk that is.

After dropping her off, and I said my goodbyes, I looked at the sky, noticing the sun peeking through the cloud and a rainbow…

Nice… must be a treasure at the end of it haha.

I walked forward, walking through the rain, it was calming, VERY calming, then I saw a lone flower surrounded by asphalt, it looked like it just began to bloom.

Reminds me of Aurora… a beautiful flower in a tough environment, yet it still manages to grow… the power of determination.

I smiled as I walked back home, remembering the time I spent with Aurora today, but wait… Natalie wasn't here today, I'm gonna call her when I reach my home.

When I did reach my home, I put my bag next to the door and hung the umbrella on the coat hanger.

I then sat on the couch, calling Natalie, after a few rings, she answered.

"hello?" She asked.

"Hey Natalie, how are you?" I asked, hoping she'd tell me why she wasn't at school instead of saying "fine" so that I can save time.

"I'm fine, just feeling a bit sick today." she answered, a little bit of both now, that's smart… not really.

After telling Natalie what happened today, we hung up and I ate the lunch that my mom prepared, she said yesterday that she is gonna be at work today.

Oh well… guess I'll have to chill the whole day and watch some movies.
