CHIMES OF WIND CAFE,
BLESSING'S ROAD
FORTUNE SECTOR-1111
There in the cafe, Death waited at a table for two. He saw the view of the outside of the cafe, which was strikingly different from his world. His world, full of dull buildings, an ever-stormy sky with a never-ending rain, and the world of Luck and Fortune, calm, vividly serene, vibrant with a never-ending spring... It was perhaps the most beautiful place to be. Maybe the reason why it was the place of luck and fortune was maybe because it was so beautiful and aesthetically pleasing to look at. I mean, who wouldn't be happy to see the a cool breeze flowing, causing flowers to fall or perhaps how the wind chimes that hung around in that open place cafe produced a slow and soothing sound that could relieve anyone's stress or maybe how they played soft tunes or the harps and flutes, creating almost the most beautiful scenery, bringing the entire place alive, making you feel like maybe this is what it feels like to be home, home being a place where you are the most comfortable and happy, internally calm... Maybe, Mizuki did have some good points, especially the way she designed her area of the Realm, and maybe it could counter her irritating behavior- nevermind.
"Yoohooo~!", Mizuki shouted from afar, and that was all that it took to irritate the hell out of Death. "You're here. Come, sit." Death offered somewhat politely.
Mizuki sat down next to him, putting in front of him on the table a big shopping bag. "I brought gifts!" she said, leaning closer, speaking rather seriously "Now, tell me everything."
.
.
.
"You tried to use memories to transfer into hell, right?", Mizuki asked with a concerned look on her face, sipping on Chamomile tea.
"I did, I really did. I tried nightmares, some level of whatever dystopic thing her mind had imagined, the things that would be hell for her to survive in. But it didn't work."
"Is she dead?"
"I... don't think so, she's somewhere in between, a vegetative state, I think. But even so, I should be able to finalise her state, but I couldn't. She's dead in the outside world but also not properly dead, it's very confusing."
"Do you have any next plan of action, Yanluo?"
"I have planned on waiting to observe her actions. For now, she seems to be normal and weak; she can't do anything."
"But there's something, isn't it? Something that is troubling you..."
Death sighed, "Yes. I looked into her past. I looked into everything about her that I had access to, and it seems like to me... there's something very strange to it all... Her life it's a mess. She's morally deficient, calculating, and worst of all, strong-willed. That's what can't be noticed at first glance, but she's not willing to let go of her petty life, and that is what scares me. If we put all of that together, that will be the power that may just end me. The only reason why I'm not worried as of now is that she's powerless... for now. I mean, it takes a lot to kill any one of us."
"Seems like you played around and still didn't have fun."
"No, I had fun. But there's just one thing that is missing. The beginning."
"The... beginning?"
"Yes, the beginning of her life, and there seems to be some fragments of her memories that seem to be corrupted? distorted? I don't know what to call it, but those were things I couldn't look into, like unauthorized access isn't allowed. Not only that, but there was this thing... dark, almost mortifying, sort of like a dark shadow cast upon those fragments of memories, that were guarding it."
"Yanluo... Do you think you should consult Life.. or Time-"
"Don't mention that Bastard..."
"Alright, if you say so... How's everything with Selora?"
"She's been... curious, to say the least... about the.. Anomaly ever since I told her about it."
"Curious?"
Death sighed, almost tired of thinking about everything "Yes, I think so. It might've been jealousy as well, but I can't say anything when I'm not sure. I'm trying to think of what I should do about this anomaly..."
"Where is the anomaly, currently?"
"In Dead Man's Town, I think. That's where they usually get temporarily transferred."
And now, she's angry too. "YOU LEFT THE POOR GIRL IN THAT RETCHED TOWN FILLED WITH SCUMBAGS AND MURDERERS! SHE'S NOT EVEN PROPERLY DEAD! THEY'LL FINISH HER!!"
"I know that, but I also know that she can handle herself... Mizuki, I have a favour to ask you."
"Oh?"
"Check out a bit more on this Anomaly, and try to find some more insight on your prophecy if possible. I'll try to talk to Life, and with any luck, I'll find some information from Time as well... But I'll take care of something first..."
Now this was surprising, Death putting his foot down to talk to Time. "Alright. Goodbye then, and take care of yourself, Yanluo. You can't defy fate, but you can delay it for a long enough time to come up with a better solution." Mizuki spoke sweetly, with a slight hint of worry as Death got up and disappeared into thin air, going back to his realm.
Things are already this bad... Death is willing to make contact with Life, even trying to get something out of Time... That's desperate.. And this entire trust that she'll manage herself in that foul place.. This way the prophecy will be fulfilled much before it's supposed to...
Mizuki looked at the setting sun, the horizon shining vividly a bright red... It won't be getting any better...
