Chapter 15 - INTERMISSION

The flute played softly in the background, and the wind blew the chimes melodiously. The sky seemed so beautiful today. A bright blue, with soft, cotton-candy-like clouds floating away in the sky, along with the breeze that was there in the air. All of it, too romantic. The withered leaves fell the way they showed it in the movies. Oh, how perfect! How charming! It almost makes you want to kill someone! Laughs.

"Why did you send that message to Mizuki, Longwang?" Chryos asked the great Lord of the Sea, who sat there next to him, smoking on his hookah. "Because Yanluo wouldn't bother checking whatever goes on with his office unless it's related to finances, and Mizuki cares about him more than she cares about herself. I'm convinced that she might even die for him, or along with him. And because you as hell sure wouldn't even try to help." Longwang spoke irritably, unable to hide his disdain.

Chryos chuckled, almost amicably. "Of course, I'm the God of Time, not some cheap, worthless helper, always at others' assistance. I already have enough to deal with many things as it is. And do you really believe that you've helped Mizuki out? She only thinks that someone is out to get Yanluo."

"But someone is. The waters say that someone gave the Anomaly, who is going to end us all, a sigil of approval." He smoked and coughed.

"And you think it's me?"

"I know it was you. Who else would even dare to step into that filthy town, unless they had some business to take care of. And, you were the one who put up the prison-like shield around that bloody town. And you know what that means. It means that you are the only one who can go in or out without your presence getting registered to all who enter and exit. You are the only one with the opportunity to do something like that. And because of that, you've enabled her to terrorise the entire IMMORTAL REALM!"

I didn't do it." Chryos glared at him furiously.

Longwang scoffed. "You're going to deny it? At least have some damn shame. Own up to your foolish mistakes- Aah!" Sizzle. His skin burned.

"I said, I. DIDN'T. DO. IT." Chryos spoke, angrier than before as he burned Longwang's hand, the hookah flying across the room. "I was busy meditating on my visio futura. And just because I can't prove my innocence, and tell who's the real criminal, don't you dare try to put your allegations on me. Seriously, why do I have such a bad reputation, huh?! Just because I enjoy my existence, just because I'm the youngest? My knowledge surpasses your thinking, so don't you dare fling your poopish thoughts over me."

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. But then who did it?"

"I've actually been trying to look into it. I saw that Yanluo saw the Anomaly walking out of the entrapment, and I was surprised as well. And considering that neither four of us did it, it leaves us with two choices. One, that somebody gave the sigil in the town, or second, she got it before she entered the town. And considering how that town is, no high official even dares to enter that town. In fact, no one had, except Yanluo when he dropped her there."

"So that means..."

"Someone gave her the sigil before she entered the town."

"That means that there must've been a moment when Yanluo must've been negligent."

"Longwang, would you like to join me to find out the real culprit?"

"It'd be an honour." The two chuckled.
