Seraphina's POV
The realization hit me so hard it almost knocked the air out of my lungs.
Three days.
I had only been gone three days, and I had missed him. More than I wanted to admit.
"Adrian?" My voice came out small, almost shaky, as I stepped forward.
He froze. The cigarette stopped halfway to his lips. Then he lifted his head—slowly, almost fearfully.
And when our eyes met, something inside me twisted. He looked stunned, like he wasn't sure if I was real or just something his tired mind had imagined.
Then he moved. The cigarette slipped from his fingers into the ashtray, forgotten. He stood up so fast the chair scraped the floor, and before I could even breathe, he was in front of me.
Before I could say anything, before I could think, he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into a tight embrace.
And just like that… everything inside me broke.
