The mall incident had left me housebound. My pregnancy had advanced significantly, bringing with it additional weight and constant fatigue. Each day felt like a battle against my own body as I navigated through this difficult pregnancy.
Morris and I decided to keep Austin home from daycare. We couldn't risk making it easier for Felix to get to him. The fear that he might somehow circumvent security protocols was too great to ignore.
Jasper had been discharged from the hospital and was completing his rehabilitation at our residence. He'd made a full recovery without permanent damage and had resumed his normal activities, though with significantly more caution than before.
