Inspector Harvey Dale's POV
I never expected my casual hospital visit would turn into a full-blown investigation. After wrapping up a case nearby, I was in a patrol car with three officers when I mentioned dropping by to see Morris, Monica, and their newborn quadruplets. Officer Cecile was behind the wheel and immediately perked up at the mention of the babies. Within minutes, all three officers were begging to join me. My team had been deeply involved in the ongoing Felix investigation, and they'd all crossed paths with Morris and Monica at some point.
"We can't show up empty-handed," Cecile insisted, pulling into the hospital parking lot. Before I could object, we were crowding into the gift shop, pooling our money for an extravagant collection of metallic balloons, gourmet chocolates, and stuffed animals in various pastel colors. The cashier probably thought we were celebrating rather than making a quick visit.
