Chapter 2 - I'll do it

The boy just stared at her and shook his head inwardly, saying she doesn't know what she will be putting herself into.

However, she was determined that no one can change that mindset now.

Ella looked at the boy who just stared back at her for a few moments before clearing his throat and walking to the couch. She sat down and crossed both hands, looking at the two creatures that just stared back at him.

"Are you sure?" he asked one more time with his hand on his chin.

Ella looked back at him with the same intensity and she wondered why she was being like this. The situation was so clear—her grandma was dying and she needs to help urgently. What else could be more dangerous than this? Her body? Why the hell should she keep dignity if her grandma is gone?

All she wanted was to keep the woman by her side a little longer. She wasn't ready to stay alone without that woman in her life.

Her grandma has suffered so much and all Ella wants was to finally give her a peaceful life filled with luxury and stress-free.

"Are you kidding me? Just tell me how and what I need to do! My grandma will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow if I don't– –"

"I know," the boy answered casually. "Ella, look, I know you're going through a lot lately but this is something dangerous. Please, I want to help but I don't want you to risk yourself for an old woman," he said, and Ella glared at him. This friend of hers was so evil and she knows that. He doesn't care and just says his heart out.

"She is my grandma, she is not just an old woman or something." Ella walked to the couch and threw her body beside him.

She looked up at the ceiling and then a memory of her and her grandma played in her head.

It was when she was little. Her grandma had big dreams for her and Ella felt happy.

She never pictured that a day would come where she needs to go through a lot and how she would try to save her grandma.

It just hurts so badly and she wished she could change that, she wished she could carry the woman's pain.

She knew nothing about her parents and all she just knew was her grandma. She and the woman were living together ever since she was little and as long as she could remember this was the only person she knew right from the start.

There were no family members or parents, just Ella and grandma. And now… grandma is going to leave poor Ella in this world? Ella didn't want to accept that fact one bit.

"What if saving her cost you your life?" she heard her friend's voice, Lucas. He was a vampire and she was pretty sure that he knows something that might help or that will help but she knows the sacrifice that that will cost.

Vampires are always very sneaky and she knows what they always wanted. Vampires are one of the creatures that love women too much, just too much.

"What do I need to do?" she asked, still keeping her gaze fixed on the ceiling. Anne, who was just standing watching the both of them, gave Lucas a look. She knew it will not be something easy. She used her eyes telling him 'motherfucker! Why did you bring this up?'

He communicated back, 'what? I just wanted to help.' Creatures can talk to each other just by looking into someone's eyes. And the only creatures that couldn't do that were humans.

"It's life lasting, you need to sign a contract," he informed. "You need to get married to a vampire royal," he added, and Anne's eyes widened.

"Life lasting contract?" She totally disagreed and walked to the couch, pulling Lucas by the neck. "Are you crazy? You wanna kill her or something? Why will a human marry a royal vampire? Why can't a pureblooded vampire marry him?" she was totally confused. The vampire royals are extremely powerful and only pureblooded vampires could stand them.

The reapers are the least varieties of vampires which are always hungry and usually come out by night.

While the rogues are the second least. Though any vampire can turn into a reaper if he or she loses control, and mostly humans who tried transforming into vampires—if anything goes wrong in the transformation—they'll turn into a reaper vampire.

The second least are the half-vampires, the humans who were turned, while the normal vampires come before the pureblooded vampires.

The pureblooded vampires are extremely powerful and so could be compared to normal vampires, but normal vampires don't have the lifespan of pureblooded vampires and are not as powerful.

A vampire royal could only mate with a pureblooded vampire or a normal vampire if the normal vampire was strong enough to handle them.

And now, Ella was none of these, so how could she possibly get married to a vampire royal?

"Are you crazy? Lucas, say something!" Anne kept pulling him and even wrapping her hand around his neck, strangling him.

"Speak up immediately!"

"Stop asking me! I don't know! My boss just told me to find a human girl that is virgin and she is most suitable for the job," he replied as he pushed Anne off him.

He brought out a document from his leather jacket and placed it on the table. While he and Anne were still fighting, Ella was dumbfounded. She never thought a day would come for her to choose between her grandma and her life.

After a few minutes of a good thought, she muttered slowly,

"I'll do it."

"Crazy, crazy! You want to kill yourself for this? I'm sure your grandma won't be pleased as well! Why do you want to do something like this?" Anne tried to convince her, but it was all useless.

Ella turned to Lucas, who was still trying to straighten his shirt.

"How much will I be getting from it?" she asked with curious eyes. She needed to know what she is getting—at least let her benefit something reasonable.

"Any amount you need will be given to you as long as you sign," he replied as he stared at her. Something flickered in his eyes and before she could fathom what it was, it vanished.

He felt sorry for her now and he started regretting why he let her know about this.

"If you sign immediately, any amount you need will be given to you," he added, and her eyes widened.

"Really? I can go to the hospital this night?" she asked. Her life was already a mess and there was nothing to lose.

As soon as he nodded at her, she picked up a pen and quickly opened the folder.

She signed the contract and Anne's eyes widened.

Lucas pulled out a black card from his pocket and handed it to her, and without hesitation she took it.

Anne's mouth was still left hanging in the air and before she could utter a word, Ella exited the door for the hospital.
