Chapter 35 - Twelve Steps of Glyphfire

"Every curse starts with a name. But it ends in fire."

—Scorched Spiral scripture, Step IX

Downtown Tokyo – 1:13 AM

So,Now we are at Sangenjaya's subway entrance? The air's got that weird shimmer, like the city's glitching out. Streetlights flickering, radios hissing static with noise, everyone's ignoring it,until a red glyph explodes across the pavement there is No warning, no sound, just instant chaos.

People start screaming, but honestly? Way too late. Out crawls this nightmare a massive, spider-shaped, all tangled up in prayer cords and bleeding black ink. Its eyes are branded with spirals, and its mouth just keeps chanting on repeat:

"Step One. Awaken the Flesh."

Alarms at Jujutsu High? Already blaring.

Tokyo Jujutsu High — Command Room

Akashi's in the east wing, supposed to be meditating, but he jolts up before the sirens even start. Glyphs under his skin are lighting him up like a neon sign.

Yuji, Megumi, Nobara rushed in and ready to throw hands.

Nobara, classic, doesn't waste time: "What the hell was that cursed energy?"

Akashi's voice drops. "It's not just cursed. It's written."

Then Gojo strolls in, arms folded, looking like he's about to drop some bad news.

"We've got Spiral cult trouble. Glyph-rite kicked off at Sangenjaya. Akashi, you're the running point now."

Yuji blinks. "He's in charge now?"

Gojo just nods, real serious. "He speaks their language. You'll need him if you wanna make it out."

Sangenjaya Station – Battle Deployment

They show up just as the curse is drawing a second sigil in the air.

"Step Two. Shatter the Name."

Reality starts bending the signs twisted, concrete rippled, glyphfire crawling up the walls. People slumped over, out cold, mumblings gibberish.

Akashi rolled up his sleeve. His skin's got spiral scars glowing under the streetlights.

"I can read its steps," he says. "It's a ritual and it has Twelve steps. We must break the cycle before it hits twelve."

Megumi, ever the worrier, asks, "And if we don't?"

Akashi just glances back, voice flat: "Tokyo becomes a glyphs of death."

The Battle — Spiral Logic vs Cursed Will

Yuji doesn't mess around he goes straight for the thing, fists blazing. Nobara followed him up, hammer swinging, nails popping like landmines and Megumi sends Nue to light it up.

Here's the catch: every hit, the curse just mutates—absorbing energy, flipping the script.

"Step Three. Deny the Soul."

Yuji's fists phase through it now. Megumi's shikigami flicker in and out. Nobara's yelling, "It's screwing with our cursed energy!"

Akashi's had enough. He steps forward.

"Dragon Tongue: Glyph Lock."

Red light coiled from his palm, snapping one of the curse's limbs in place. It howls.

"It's following an old Spiral Ritual," Akashi grunts. "But whoever summoned it? He's Amateur in hour."

Yuji: "So what's the play now?"

"Break the sequence."

Step Four – Burn the Past

Suddenly, glyphfire explodes everywhere The Buildings splits, lampposts melted and one nasty glyph slaps itself across Nobara's shoulder, burning right through her shirt.

She staggers but spits out, "I'm—fine—!"

The curse lunges, limbs morphing into blade-shaped kanji.

"NOBARA!" Akashi yells.

His glyphs blaze, eyes flash—dragon slits showing through. He's not full beast-mode, but close.

"Dragon Glyph: Reversal Flame!"

He hurls a spiral of red-gold fire, not claws or scales. The cursed arm melted and droped Nobara....

"You alive?" he pants.

She nods, shaky. "Yeah. I owe you. Again."

Final Steps Denied

Akashi lifts both hands, curses swirling above. Glyphs spiral into a dome and locked down the block.

"Domain Fragment: Spiral Collapse."

Not a full domain, but enough to choke off Step Five. The curse shrieks, logic unravels.

Yuji isn't about to waste the moment.

"Black Flash!"

His fist cracked the core. The curse crumples in on itself, glyphs vanishing with it.

And just like that, dead quiet.

Aftermath — Moonlit Ruins

The place is a wreck, but no dead bodies. Spiral cult's stopped—for now.

Akashi's not celebrating. He just shakes his head. "That's just one and soon There'll be more."

"More glyphs?" Megumi asks.

"No," Akashi says. "More messiahs,More Spiral-blooded freaks that are Training for the endgame."

Up on the rooftops, some cultist with glowing eyes watches them go, voice barely a whisper:

"He broke the rite. But the fire remembers his name."
