Chapter 6 - Three months

Three months have passed since Astra was reborn into this world.

Although his mind was awake, his routine as a baby was undoubtedly the hardest to bear. His day consisted of eating, sleeping, and constantly soiling diapers.

He truly understands now why the rebirth novels he used to read used to involve a time skip during the baby stage. It's definitely not a pleasant story to tell; he spent every day covered in poop, which was too humiliating, since his mother or the mansion's maids were always cleaning him up, as if it were completely natural.

Being bathed and cared for by young, beautiful women was also uncomfortable for him. After all, he still had the mind of an adult trapped in a baby's body.

However, if he had to choose the hardest thing to bear, it would be being breastfed. Even though he understood that it was completely natural, every time it happened, he felt his dignity as an adult crumble a little more. However, despite the fact that Stella was the most beautiful woman Astra had ever seen, he never felt any kind of attraction to her. That made this whole period of being nursed by a beauty much easier for him.

Speaking of the mansion and the maids, from the little he's seen, he's noticed that his family is probably very wealthy. There are always many people around, wandering around and working, and although he hasn't been able to see the entire mansion, the little he has seen has made him realize how large it is.

On the other hand, Astra feels that he has been slowly adapting to his new life. In these three months, he has learned a lot about the language of this new world with his intellect. At least in everyday life, he has no trouble understanding what the people around him are saying.

This surprises him quite a bit because this language has no reference to any he's heard before. If that were the case, he would have been able to learn it a long time ago.

It's worth noting that since he was bored and needed something to do, he took advantage of his ability to perfectly remember his past life and learned to speak Japanese. This only took him four hours of work over the course of a week. The process was as follows: he remembered the anime he'd watched before, and then, using subtitles and word associations, he learned the language.

Regarding the language of this world, it's safe to say he feels very frustrated. Besides not having much reference information, people rarely speak to him, almost always saying the same thing, which is mostly just pampering.

Unexpectedly, the person who spoke to him the most wasn't his mother, but his older sister, Evangeline. She's cheerful and energetic and shares many of her father's traits, such as his blue hair and eyes.

Astra has noticed that she's quite excited to have a younger brother. Every day, she comes to find him and tell him anything that comes to mind during the day, but thanks to that, he's managed to learn a lot about the language of this world.

Aside from Evangeline, Astra has two other older brothers, one named Lucas and the other named James. They also came to see him quite often. James, like Evangeline, had blue hair and eyes, but instead of being so cheerful, he was more playful and a little proud.

On the other hand, his brother Lucas, the youngest of the three, was a boy with brown hair and blue eyes. Unlike his two older brothers, he was quite shy. Many times, he came to visit Astra, he would stay in the back and watch him with great curiosity.

One of the things Astra was able to accomplish in these three months was to learn about his family. All of his older siblings were children of Amelia, his second mother. He had come to the conclusion that his father had two wives, and apparently, he was his father's first son with his mother, Stella.

However, despite his father having two wives, the atmosphere at home didn't feel like one of those palace dramas where women fight for the emperor's attention by any means necessary; rather, it was a fairly harmonious family. He often saw Amelia chatting with her mother, Stella, quite naturally, even laughing together. It was evident that there was no tension between them.

This could also be reflected in the way his siblings treated him; after all, a child is very simple, and if they were on bad terms, they wouldn't come to visit him as often and play with him. Furthermore, his siblings, despite not being their mother's children, treated her as one and also came to see her. It was clear that they respected her greatly. As he began to better understand the family dynamics, he noticed something curious: there was no sign of uncles or aunts on his father's side. Everything seemed to revolve around a close, direct family, with no visible extended branches.

Furthermore, he was finally able to confirm that his grandparents were the two people he had respected so much the day he was born: his grandmother's name is Kassandra and his grandfather's name is Henry. They seemed to be very busy people, since they only returned home two or three times a month; each time they came, they spent time with the family and pampered Astra.

At first, Astra felt a little nervous about not fitting in, especially when they did more detailed tests of his talent with some magical artifacts and saw that he wasn't very tall, which you could say was acceptable.

On the other hand, it seemed that even though he wasn't as talented as they expected, he wasn't ostracized by his family as he seemed in the novels. Quite the opposite, in fact. He was well cared for and showered with love, so much so that he was unconsciously getting used to his new family.

This made him feel a bit conflicted. Although he felt great about fitting in and being loved, he still had lingering memories of his previous life and his family. He remembered every moment, every smile, he remembered everything.

Although he knew that if they knew he was in this situation, they would want him to move forward and adapt to this new place, he still couldn't stop thinking about them. But Astra also knew he couldn't continue like this all the time, so over these three months, he'd slowly accepted his situation.

He's a person who knows that there are many things that must be let go. He could only hope that, wherever they were, his past family would be okay... and that one day, he'd be able to remember them without pain.
