Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

ARIA'S POV~

I groaned, stretching my stiff body from the uncomfortable position I'd slept in. After tending to my boss all night, I'd decided to lie down beside him, just in case he needed anything. The fever had subsided, and his temperature was back to normal. Yawning, I stood up and walked towards the door, intent on fetching him breakfast.

As I reach for the door handle, my phone rings. I raise it to see Julian's name flashing on the screen. "Hey," I answer, my voice husky from sleep.

"Hi Ria, is he okay now?" Julian's voice was laced with worry, and I couldn't help but smile.

"Yeah, he's fine. Are you coming over?" I ask, expecting him to want to check on his brother.

"No, I have something to take care of at the office," Julian replies, and I tell him okayin understanding. With my boss out office, Julian would need to handle things at the office.

After a brief conversation, I end the call and head to the kitchen. The heavenly aroma of breakfast wafted through the air, and I spot Mark, the chef, already at work. "Good morning, Mark," I greet him, and he turned to smile.

"Good morning, Aria. Did you just arrive?" he asks, issuing orders to the other staff members.

"No, I was just... attending to Mr. Adonis," I say hesitating slightly and Mark nods. "Can you please arrange the food? I'll be taking it upstairs."

Mark nods, and the maids quickly get to work. Once they finish, I push the trolley towards the elevator and press the button for my boss's floor. When the doors open, I push the trolley into the room.

My boss sits up in bed, his back resting against the headboard, his intense gaze fixed on me. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I approached him, but I cleared my throat and walk into the room. "Good morning, sir," I greet, trying to sound cheerful and as normal as I can.

He didn't respond, his eyes never leaving mine. I turned away to grab the small table and arrange the food properly on the bed. "You took care of me last night," he more like states, his deep husky voice laced with a hint of curiosity.

I turn to face him, my eyes meeting his briefly. "Yes, sir," I reply and start placing the food on the table.

"You gave me the medication?" he questions again, eyes narrowed.

I fell a flutter in my chest as memories of the previous night flood back.

'Dont think about it Aria'

I clear my throat and try to compose myself. "Y-yes, I did, sir," I almost face palm myself for stuttering, and my fingers tremble slightly as I place the plate of steaming pancakes in front of him.

His eyes darken at the word "sir," and I furrow my brows, confused by his reaction. What is wrong with this man?

"Are you aware that you took advantage of a sick man, Aria?" Adonis says and I almost roll my eyes, his voice is low and serious and I meet his gaze, my eyes flashing with amusement. "I was helping a sick cry baby, sir," I retorted, my tone light and laced with just the right amount of sarcasm.

Adonis lets out a low growl, and I quickly shut my mouth, remembering that he is still my boss. "Who is a cry baby?" he questions, eyes glinting with amusement.

I hastily corrected myself. "Nobody, sir. Sorry. Please, have your breakfast." I move the table closer to him, trying to placate him.

"Come and eat," His voice rings out, low and husky as he pats the space beside him on the bed. I raise an eyebrow, puzzled by his behavior. Was he still delirious from the fever?

"Thank you, sir," My voice is polite and I sit down beside him. I drag the plate of food towards me, only to look up at his words, "How am I getting compensated?"

'I think the fever affected his brain'

My gaze is focused on him, confused. "I don't understand, sir," My reply is instant as I pop a grape into my mouth.

His next words male me choke on the fruit, my eyes turning watery "You kissed me, Aria. My lips are precious." I start coughing, hitting my chest to dislodge the grape. Tears gather in my eyes as I glared at him.

He hands me a glass of water his movement nonchalant and a glint present in his blue orbs.

I sip it slowly, my eyes never leaving his. "I'm really sorry for kissing your very precious lips, sir," my words unapologetic.

He smirks, and continues to eat his food as if nothing happened. I rolled my eyes, muttering under my breath, "What an asshole."
