After we finished our descent, that was when we heard a squelching noise from behind us. When we looked back the portal was shrinking down to the size of a large window that allowed the other Egyptian deities and lesser gods to look through and observe. Those left behind never really played any major roles in the life of the Egyptians so they never cared to leave the celestial realm. And since we couldn't bear the thought of leaving any of our fellow core members behind for fear that they would somehow recover then they would be trapped in the Celestial realm.
Yes they wouldn't be alone because they would have the lesser Egyptian deities to keep them company. It's just that the 17 of us were core members since we were the major gods and goddesses. We had been together for thousands of years. So it was decided that if one member left then the other 16 would follow. The 9 of us that weren't lifeless looking statues all feared that if we stayed our already dwindled powers would later completely vanish. If that were to happen then we wouldn't have been able to manipulate the happenings in the earthen realm. If that were to happen then we had no way to be sure that the history of the ancients would be interpreted incorrectly or even told in the order that it happened. Then there was the chance that the events or achievements would be credited to the wrong person or god. A worse possibility for us was that it would be lost for who knows how long or worse yet 3,000 years of history would be completely lost.
After witnessing the portal shrink into a large window, we realized that the possibility of us ever going back was impossible as of right now. The place we had descended to was Egypt, that actually made a lot of sense because it was where our roots started. We also decided we would hide out unnoticed for a while in a hidden forgotten temple to see if the current situation would stay the same or also fall. The reason for our caution is that we had already witnessed them having what we found out was called the World Wars.
