Chapter 2: The Return of the Green Phone
Pedro Henrique never imagined that his life could become a captivating thriller, much less a centered on a cursed phone. Since managed to get rid of the frightening green device, life began to seem a little more normal. He returned to school, where the laughter of his friends, and the thrill of learning replaced the anxiety that accompanied the discovery of an obscure secret to just one phone call. His teachers noticed the change, praising him for his focus and renewed participation.
However, the moment he crossed the door of his house, a disturbing sensation stopped in the air. Peter slowly climbed the stairs, the floor boards ranging under his weight. Upon entering his room, a shiver traveled his pimple - there he was, the green phone, landed innocently on his table as if he had never left.
"What ...?" He murmured with a rapid heart. Pedro had thrown the phone into the depths of a nearby river. He remembered how water had swallowed him, causing his existence. However, there was, challengingly waiting for him, as if they mocked his efforts to get rid of him.
Panic invaded him. "I can't let this happen again!" He thought, with his mind a thousand. He entered the kitchen, taking the heavier hammer - a hammer - from the toolbox. His hands shake lightly as he returned to the room, the phone shining in the soft light, almost as if alive.
Breathing deeply, Pedro signed himself, lifting the hammer well above his head. When he was about to fall off, he heard a cold and penetrating voice, "Peter, why violence? Let's talk."
He froze, the weight of the hammer looking unbearable in his hands. "What?" He stammered with his breath. The green screen of the phone blinked, illuminating its sinister shine while displaying a series of numbers and letters - not any letters, but names and faces of people he recognized.
"Let's talk," the voice continued, soft, but chilling. "You're worried, Peter. You've seen how society treats women who have committed crimes, don't you? Keeping under different standards, free to walk while others suffer. Wouldn't it be nice to control this narrative, decide who deserves punishment?"
The room seemed to shrink around it, Peter's mind a thousand. He thought of all the injustices he had witnessed - people escaping the horrible acts simply simply because of social prejudice. As much as he wanted to destroy the phone, the idea he presented was tempting.
"No," he said finally, trying to get rid of the influence of the device. "You're wrong. This is not right. Punishment has to be fair."
"So why cling to something as powerful as I do? I can help you," the phone insisted, her light projecting strange shadows that danced on the wall. "I can fix things. Think well, Pedro. A name, a message - everything can be yours to control."
The violence of his intentions hesitated, the weight of the hammer becoming unbearable in the face of what he felt. He looked at the green device, whose screen now displayed a single word: "fair."
Pedro's mind seethed with thoughts of revenge and justice, the tempting attraction of power involved him. But deep down he felt a spark of morality, the last remnant of his humanity fighting inside him. He could not be the referee of life and death based on convenience, nor could he let the phone manipulate it.
With a quick movement, he lowered the hammer, the determination in his heart solidifying. "No," he said with determination, "I won't do that."
The phone screen shone harder, pulsing with austere energy. The voice became more insistent, almost pleading: "Then do whatever it takes, Peter. Choose your way. But remember, I will always be here, waiting."
And with that, the hammer slipped from his hand, falling to the floor with a thud, echoing the turbulence in his mind. He wondered the phone, breathing heavily, attached to the tension between right and wrong, anger and containment.
As Peter's world dived more and more in uncertainty, he realized that this was just the beginning; The fascination of power through the cursed Green Telephone would hover in the shadows of his heart, waiting for the moment he could hesitate.
He knew he had signed an obscure covenant - one that would test his soul in the following chapters.
