The raindrops pattered against the tinted glass of the sleek sedan as it glided through the dark night, its engine purring smoothly. As it approached the entrance gate of the Ryu household, the gates swung open, and the car rolled in. The guards standing at attention bowed deeply, acknowledging their boss's arrival.
The car stopped in front of the main entrance of Block 2, and Ryu Leam stepped out, his expression neutral and cold. The guards at the entrance bowed, and Leam acknowledged them with a slight nod before striding toward the door.
The large house door clicked open, revealing a warm and inviting interior. Leam's family, including his parents and three sisters, were gathered around the dinner table. Leam joined them, greeting his elders with a polite bow before taking his seat.
The meal was served with professional precision, and everyone enjoyed their food in silence until Old Man Ryu broke the silence. "Leam, your mother and I have decided to find a partner for you. A spouse, to benefit the organization's growth. What do you think?"
Leam's expression remained impassive, but he felt a flicker of surprise. "It's fine," he said, his voice even. He thought to himself, "Who am I to object, as long as it's for business?"
His parents exchanged a glance, their faces hopeful, but Leam's next words wiped the smiles off their faces. "Don't expect a child from us, and don't expect me to love them." Old Man Ryu sighed, his eyes crinkling with concern. "Leam, you're getting married to a male spouse."
Leam's eyes widened slightly, but he nodded, his face still neutral. "No problem," he said, though his mind was racing. Then his father dropped the bombshell: "His future spouse is Chen Ru."
Leam's composure faltered, and he felt a jolt of surprise. Chen Ru, his childhood nemesis? He pushed aside his thoughts, telling himself he was fine with the arrangement, as long as it was for business. He wouldn't love, he wouldn't fall. He was certain of it.
But what if he did?
