He slipped the phone into his pocket as he crawled to the other side of the bed. The faint sound of water running from the bathroom echoed softly.
Haoran pushed the bathroom door open only to notice Zixuan was awake. It didn't seem like he had been sleeping at all.
He knew Zixuan hadn't slept throughout the previous night, which made him a little worried.
Meeting Zixuan's gaze, and in a hurry to please him, Haoran tried to smile. It wasn't forced, just a soft smile—Zixuan had once said he liked it when he smiled like that.
But all he received was an eye roll.
"What are you smiling for?" Zixuan asked, looking at him with disgust written on his face.
"I thought you said you liked my smile," Haoran said quietly, his face falling in disappointment.
Zixuan looked away, his chest tightening with guilt. For a brief second, he almost wanted to apologize. Almost. "Don't smile again," he said. He felt pity didn't mean forgiveness.
