Chapter 154 - If I Wasn't Clark

The question of his origins had always been a thorn in Clark's side.

Although Martha and Jonathan loved him very much, and Clark cherished them in return…

…the mystery of his heritage and why his parents had abandoned him weighed on him like a mountain.

Clark had entertained many theories, but he had never imagined that his purpose in coming to Earth was to conquer the planet.

At least, that's what it seemed like from the message his biological father had left him.

"Well, it seems this is the truth," Gino shrugged, glancing at the night outside the window. "It's getting late. I'm going to go rest."

Clark didn't respond to Gino, just sat there, lost in thought on the cold, damp floor.

Seeing Clark's state, Gino sighed inwardly. This was something Clark had to work through himself.

Actually, Clark's change in mindset was easy to guess.

From a young age, his adoptive parents taught him to be an upright and kind person.

But the purpose of his biological parents sending him to Earth was to conquer it, a stark contrast that involved the collapse of his beliefs.

"If you feel lost, you can come to Luthor Manor to find me."

Before leaving, the youth patted Clark on the shoulder and turned to walk out of the dilapidated barn.

Time ticked by, second by second.

It seemed as though a certain critical point had been reached, and the long-suppressed emotions finally erupted.

"This isn't real!" Clark covered his face with his hands; his mind grew more chaotic.

He stumbled to his feet, then rushed out of the barn like a madman.

Boom!

The flimsy wood couldn't stop the steel body. He smashed through the planks and ran into the downpour like a whirlwind.

The loud noise was incredibly clear even in the rain.

Soon, Jonathan and Martha, already worried about his sudden disappearance, cautiously opened the door.

"Clark?"

In the blurry rain, Jonathan watched Clark's figure running into the storm and disappearing into the distance.

The middle-aged man's face was full of worry: "Where are you going?"

The rain was pouring down, but Clark seemed not to notice, walking at a slow pace.

Seeing this, Jonathan gritted his teeth and rushed into the downpour, ignoring Martha's attempts to stop him.

"I'm talking to you, Clark!"

The middle-aged man reached out and stood in front of Clark.

"Leave me alone!" Clark seemed to suddenly wake up, waving his hand to push his adoptive father away.

"No, you have to tell me what happened!" Jonathan rubbed his aching arm and stood in front of Clark, blocking his way.

BOOM!

A flash of lightning lit up the sky above.

Clark slowly raised his face, which was wet with raindrops. He gazed at Jonathan with a somber expression: "I've learned the purpose of my arrival on Earth."

"Purpose?" Jonathan's heart clenched. "What purpose?"

"To rule Earth." Clark looked down at his hands.

"Clark, listen to me, you..."

"No, Jonathan, you don't understand!" Clark raised his head again, his tone agitated. "If I'm not American..."

"Nor am I an Earthling."

"Not even human."

"Then, Jonathan, tell me."

"Who am I?"

"Who am I?"

"I am a billionaire, the youngest heir of the Luthor Family, the bane of Talia, a god among men, and the diplomatic ambassador of human civilization stationed on Cybertron."

In the grand hall of the castle manor.

Standing before a full-length mirror, Gino gazed at his reflection.

Unlike the confused Clark, Gino had no issues with his identity.

He was human, an Earthling, and his abilities were simply gifts from the system.

"You forgot to mention the most important one, you are also Lex Luthor's brother."

Lex, just finished with overtime, walked into the hall, chuckling as he teased his brother.

Lex sat on the sofa, asking Gino with some concern, "What happened?"

"I just found out about Clark's origins," Gino told Lex about what happened tonight.

"So, you think Clark will become what his biological parents hoped for?" Lex stared at Gino's eyes. "If he really chooses to become that kind of planetary dictator..."

"Although the possibility is small, if Clark really wants to become a planetary dictator," Gino smiled indifferently, "then I will take action."

A bright light flashed in the young man's eyes. Although he and Clark were friends, if Clark really decided to become a dictator, he would take action to stop Clark.

Even... Without mercy, to kill.

Water droplets slid down Clark's cheeks, indistinguishable as tears or water.

"Clark," Jonathan pursed his lips, "Perhaps you can't decide your birth, but you can decide what kind of person you can become."

"If ruling Earth is your will, then you can do as you wish." Jonathan revealed a compassionate side for the first time.

He opened his arms and embraced his adopted son's body, as hard as if it were cast in steel.

In the downpour, Clark had tears in his eyes.

"I understand, Father."

Clark embraced Jonathan tightly, the two of them enjoying that brief moment of warmth.

But a scream shattered the warm atmosphere.

"Ah!"

Martha's shrill, desperate scream came from inside the barn.

"Mom!"

Clark released Jonathan and appeared outside the barn in an instant.

"Boom!"

Pushing open the old wooden door, his adoptive mother Martha was lying unconscious on the ground.

At the same time, the originally calm Spaceship was flashing with green light.

Countless fine green dust permeated the air.

"Mom!"

Ignoring the Spaceship and the strange green mist, Clark clenched his fists and rushed into the barn, picking up the unconscious Martha from the ground and rushing out.

"Clark, what happened?"

Jonathan ran over, his face etched with worry. Seeing his unconscious wife, the middle-aged man was filled with anxiety, "We have to get her to the hospital immediately!"

When Clark carried Martha to the hospital, the first thing they faced was the exorbitant medical bill.

"Three thousand dollars?! Are you trying to rob us?!" Jonathan glared at the nurse on duty.

But all he received was the nurse's cold reply: "I'm very sorry, please pay quickly."

In the free American, trying to take advantage of the capitalist system? A pipe dream.

"Sour Radish Coin Pool!" Jonathan grumbled, reaching for his credit card to pay.

But the next moment, Clark, who had suddenly appeared in the hallway, handed a bag of Franklins to the counter: "Here's three thousand dollars, start the emergency surgery immediately!"

After receiving the money, the nurse immediately began arranging the surgery.

Father and son sat anxiously in the hospital hallway. Jonathan looked at Clark with worry, "Clark, where did you get so much money?"

Jonathan couldn't help but be suspicious. Three thousand American dollars was no small sum, especially for the Kents, who ran a struggling farm. It was an astronomical figure.

"It's my own business." Clark stammered, but he was already planning to repay the debt to that Mr. Bruce when he had the chance.
