"Boom!"
Under the dark night sky, a torrential downpour descended, soaking the earth.
For the earth, it was undoubtedly a perfect autumn rain, nourishing all things.
But for those traveling, it could be a nightmare.
The sudden drop in temperature could easily lead to a cold.
Not to mention, wet clothes clinging to the body only made things more uncomfortable.
Located on the west side of the town was the ore mining site.
The half-built mine had long since stopped work.
Since the suspected wolf attack at the construction site, the police had sealed off the area.
"Whoosh~"
Rain swept past his ears, hitting the damp earth with a "tap-tap" sound.
The air was filled with the moist, slightly fishy smell of the soil.
Clark took a deep breath, gazing at the dark, deep hole at his feet, where raindrops fell with a dripping sound.
Letting the raindrops slide down his cheeks, under the downpour, Clark clenched his fists.
After hours of thought, he had made his decision.
"I must face the truth, even if it's terrifying."
Whoosh!
Leaping into the hole, Clark disappeared into the mine, as rainwater splashed around him.
Drip… drip…
Raindrops constantly dripped through the hole above, eroding the cave's stone walls.
Not far away, the stone walls flickered with an orange glow. The faint light illuminated the colorful murals on the wall, making them appear both gorgeous and mysterious.
Amidst the flickering firelight, footsteps approached.
Coming closer, a figure stood beneath the murals and spoke softly, "You're here."
Another tall figure nodded slowly, "I'm here."
"You shouldn't have come."
"…"
"Alright, cut the act."
Clark stepped forward, breaking the eerie atmosphere.
Kino tossed the torch to Clark, a smile playing on his lips: "Looks like you've made your choice."
Clark's eyes were deep, his tone low: "No one can escape their past, even if you have no memory of that time."
Seeing Clark's resolute attitude, Kino stopped trying to persuade him.
He took out the Prism Stone he'd brought from Lex.
Clark stared at the Prism Stone.
Made of some unknown, mysterious material, the Prism Stone shimmered with a bright silver light in the flickering firelight.
Kino slowly approached the stone wall, with Clark holding the torch behind him.
Getting closer, the area around the prism-shaped recess was engraved with all sorts of strange and bizarre symbols, like grotesque hieroglyphs.
"Let's begin."
Without hesitation, Kino acted decisively, grasping the stone and embedding it into the wall.
"Crack!"
As the two objects joined together, the Prism Stone, now perfectly embedded in the wall, burst forth with dazzling light. Clark's heart, in turn, began to beat faster.
The light shifted from silver to gold, that scorching radiance becoming increasingly grand and bright, like the dazzling glow of thousands of fireworks exploding at their peak.
The hieroglyphs on the stone wall began to spin violently.
"Kino, maybe we should leave. That thing doesn't seem right."
Clark grabbed his friend's arm, trying to pull him away.
"No, let's wait a bit." Kino didn't take it seriously, he didn't think a stone wall could hurt him.
As the light circle spun faster and faster, it seemed to reach a critical point. A brilliant white light, like a particle beam shot from the arm of a cosmic giant, enveloped the two of them.
"Argh!"
As if thousands of strange languages were flooding his mind, the intense pain caused Clark to scream. The boy painfully raised his arm and wailed, "Kino, this isn't right!"
"Y-yes, it is!" Kino clutched his forehead, his face contorted in pain.
Just like someone forcing a book into a person's head, Kino pinpointed the problem, "These beams seem to be injecting something into us, maybe words, maybe thoughts!"
"Get out of here!"
Kino grabbed Clark's arm, but the next moment, the blazing white light exploded.
"Thud!"
With the beams gone, Clark's face slammed into the mud, and he collapsed.
"Hiss~"
Kino dropped Clark's arm, and a wave of dizziness washed over him. He shook his head, looking strange.
There seemed to be some kind of wonderful knowledge in his mind, like a brand new language message downloaded from the computer's C drive.
Kino shook his head, his brain a mess. Then, he spread his hands and cast Heavenly Purification Magic on himself.
A cool, refreshing sensation like spring water swept through his mind, and the previous dazed feeling vanished.
Kino walked forward and took the Prism Stone from the stone wall. He then bent down and cast Purification Magic on Clark, throwing him out of the cave.
"Rumble~"
The rain was still falling.
As Kino's magic took effect, the unconscious Clark slowly woke up.
"I... what happened to me?"
Clark opened his eyes, looking confused.
Looking around at the darkness, only Kino stood not far away.
"That light stunned you," Kino tapped his temple. "And it seems to have added a language to our brains."
"These things again," Clark covered his head, looking pained.
It wasn't just physical discomfort, but also mental anguish.
"Don't worry," Kino walked closer to Clark and patted the boy's shoulder. "The Spaceship in your basement might have some clues."
"Want to go check it out?"
"Right, my Spaceship!" Clark's eyes lit up. He wiped the water off his face and grabbed his friend's shoulder. "Let's go to my Barn!"
Whoosh!
Running through the night, like a bolt of lightning.
The sonic boom created by his speed tore through the rain.
When Kino and Clark stopped again, they were inside the Barn at Kent Farm.
He lit a dim kerosene lamp, the shade casting its light.
Clark strode forward and brushed aside bundles of hay.
A teardrop-shaped, streamlined Spaceship was resting quietly in the corner of the Barn.
The silver paint job lent the Spaceship an air of mystery and elegance.
There was a prism-shaped indentation on the top of the Spaceship, which fit the Prism Stone Kino had found in the cave earlier.
Kino tossed the stone.
Clark caught it and crouched down, placing the stone into a groove.
"Buzz~"
It seemed to be the key to starting the Spaceship. As the doors on both sides of the Spaceship opened, a series of golden lights flowed through the narrow cockpit.
Those mysterious characters slid across the bottom compartment of the Spaceship like flowing water.
And as the characters flowed, Clark's expression became increasingly grim and gloomy.
For no other reason, the information revealed by those mysterious characters was as follows: [To my dear son, on the third planet in this galaxy lives a group of backward species: Humans.
You will become a god to them.] ---
"Use your power to lead this flawed race; it will be your greatest achievement."
"Thump."
Clark's legs couldn't help but give way, and he fell to the ground.
His large eyes were filled with shock and confusion: "My parents actually sent me here to conquer this place!?"
