Chapter 12 - Bloody Maria

"This is the place?" I muttered as I looked at what appeared to be a chapel but it was run down and abandoned with graffiti on the walls and garbage strewn about with the occasional homeless walking by.

The entrance itself appeared collapsed at that so there wasn't anyway to get in while I could hear gunshots in the distance, probably some Valentinos and some 6th Streeters trying to kill one another like usual, but this is definitely the place Arthur sent me to and he has no reason to lie.

So I walked around the building to see where the hell I could get in and then I stopped and looked at a mural that had been painted in red and black paint, and if I could smell right now I would have smelled the faint sent of iron in the air, the irony kind of smell you would get from dried blood.

"What the fuck Wally…." I muttered as I looked at the mural of the true form of none other than the Indifference, The Man in the Wall himself, but this mural was different.

Lines of binary were written around him in codes that I didn't understand, but I used my optics to take a picture and save it in the memory shard I have to look back at it later.

But below the mural lay what appeared to be a cellar door that was wide open allowing sunlight to come on down into the cellar before I took my cautious steps downward while I had my hand holding onto my personal Vesper 77.

It didn't take long for me to reach the bottom, fluorescent lights were lit up above a podium at the end of the cellar where a hidden chapel could be seen.

However the floor was covered in both dry and fresh blood and at the end of the cellar a woman was kneeling in prayer before an idol, an idol of none other than Wally himself.

'Is that why I was attracted to this mad woman? It's all because she is a believer of his?' I thought to myself as I took aim with my gun at her.

Suddenly her mutterings of prayer stopped as she slowly lifted her head before looking over her shoulder and slowly opened her eyes...

But her eyes were a rolling darkness from what I saw for all but a moment as her golden eyes shown through and they returned to normal.

"…. You…. Are you the Star-Child my god has told me about?" She asked me as she slowly got oof her knees and stood as she turned to look at me.

Now saying she was sexy is an understatement, but with the blood soaked clothes of blood that was on her it was more of a crazy kind of sexy, and I knew one thing and that's you don't try to fuck with crazy people.

But looking at her I didn't intend to put my weapon away, "If your god is who I think it is, then I am most likely the 'Star-Child' that they have told you about." I say to her.

She doesn't respond for a second, but suddenly I saw her body blur before my eyes as I saw her extremely fast rapid movements barely giving me a chance to dodge only due to Ashes natural reflexes "A Sandevistan?!?! Shit!" I shouted out barely dodging the knife that was aimed right at me.

Without second thought I used Smoke Bomb and vanished before her eyes making her stop as her eyes glowed while searching the area.

*Woosh!*

Suddenly I was once again on top of her as I was swinging down full force with my katana with me using 'Fatal Teleport' in Oder to land a decisive blow in order to end this but-

*Clink!*

Her body blurred once again and her knife and body moved fast enough to turn and intercept my attack as our weapons collided before wish pushed each other back making my still invisible outline of myself disappear due to 'Smoke Bomb' still being active.

"I knew that he probably wasnt as restricted as he was back in my world, but actually getting his very own worshipper? Now I'm not going to be surprised if a cult springs up in his name in the future." I said as I circled her as I now had my Vesper in one hand trained on her as my invisibility wore off letting her see me once more.

Hearing me say that she couldn't help but close her eyes while raising her head in prayer, "My god found me while I had dived into the deepest reaches of the Net and he 'enlightened' me about this world and so many things….. it was maddening….. and it was oh so beautiful….." She said with a strong sense of fervor in her voice.

"And what? He told you about the universe where he was from and mentioned me specifically just so you can test me? Or is it to kill me, or maybe it's to see if I'm worthy of your 'Gods' attention, and mind you I never asked to be thrown into this little game of his for his own amusement." I couldn't help but complain.

I mean I was just a normal guy before coming here who liked playing video games, the only lucky thing is that I would go out hunting in the fall and winter along with going to the gun range so that's the only reason I wasn't a fumbling idiot when it came to using guns, and I have to constantly think that everyone I kill deserves to die all the time in order for me not to breakdown since killing a deer and killing a person are two different things.

But luckily most people I have killed were bad people in one way or another, even this gig to kill the diplomat, the guy must have done terrible stuff to get to the position as far as the World of Cyberpunk is concerned as anyone with any bit of political power from the governments to the Corps are just bad people all around, so it's another way I reason why I don't feel bad about killing the guy either.

But she just shook her head, "It was none of those things, I wouldn't have put my name out their if I was never told who I would be working with in the first place, I am known as 'Bloody Maria' so now adays I don't work with those other sinners, until I saw you of course as the man I would work with, you along with that suit, that Warframe of yours at that." She said making me hold my blade tighter while I kept my gun aimed at her.

"So if you would let me, I would love to rend my services to you for this gig of yours, and if you want even join your crew and work together from now on." She offered to me holstered her combat knife off to her side as she stared at me with her glowing gold eyes.

I lowered my gun as I looked at her for a bit, and really I didn't have a choice since she knew too much it would be more detrimental just to leave her be, "Alright fine, your in the gig, I do hope your net running skills are up to the task."

And with that I (un)fortunately got myself my first crew member in the world of Cyberpunk.
