Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 : New System

"Puny human. Watch your tone. You should be grateful I am kind enough to let your arrogance slide, but to cross the line like this, you are asking for death! You shall serve as a warning demonstration!" The screen roared as it flared red and static, the words it spoke replaced the previous message that was formed as some of the text from its eyes darted over to the woman and other people who shouted along with her and killed them.

The blood from the victims splattered everywhere, the organs were crushed like a mere marshmallow and grounded it into a liquid form, messily soaking the people nearby.

The Sergeant's eyes widened in dread and horror as he staggered backward, making the makeshift face above their heads laugh manically. Amusement and delight were evident on the echoing voice as it reverberated inside the main area. The child of the murdered woman stared at the blood with confusion and tears, crying loudly because of the accident.

The screen's textual eyes glanced down at the ceiling child as the Sergeant immediately forced himself to snap out of his trance and scooped up the child in his arms, rocking the child softly in his arms despite his reeling emotions.

The frightening face slowly morphed back to being a normal big screen floating above their heads, the texts returned in the middle, and displayed messages as if nothing happened.

"Well, that was amusing. As I said earlier, after the countdown, both inhabitants of Earth and Okkaryuon will receive proper compensation for the delayed announcement. Each country will also be provided with guides so that you can adapt quicker in this new realm, have fun, and enjoy!" The same voice of Jum from earlier spoke as the text was printed into the screen, laughing in amusement before the screen shrank and returned in front of the people.

The government officials and people from all around the city panicked as mankind was plunged into chaos. Even the Sergeant himself felt lost about what to do as he clutched the child in his arms ever so gently yet firmly, his mind trying to rationalize the inhumane phenomenon that had just occurred in their world.

"Police Master Sergeant, copy. Are you there? Respond, Sergeant." A gruff voice called out from the radio on the man's hip. The child in his arms sniffled as they clung to his neck and silently cried.

"Sir, yessir. John Marc Dela Cruz, reporting, sir." The sergeant replied with a firm and trained voice as he grabbed the radio from its strap, bringing it over to his mouth as he walked to the jury-rigged office on the second floor, carrying the child in his arms along with him.

"The people are in trepidation, it appears that our country is not the only one that received the demonstration of punishment, even other countries have experienced it as well. This could make us safely assume that the other inhabitants of this Okkaryuon planet also witnessed the same event." One of the higher ups stated as she presented images of the same event from all over the place, switching slide to slide as the number of people murdered by the demonstration reached over a thousand to a million.

"We only have yet about 13 hours left before this so-called compensation and guide arrive, whatever the creature is behind that holographic blue screen, they're playing with us. It's merely letting us live for entertainment, we are nothing but a mere insect to them." The woman added as she slammed her palms down against the conference table, gritting her teeth in anger and aggravation as she flickered her eyes to the officials that have gathered in the forum.

"We can tell that much, Mrs. Reyes. Let us wait until this countdown had ended, then we shall instill a new system in the country to adapt. Because as of the present, I don't see anything we can do, we are powerless against that… thing." The President says with authority and a hint of despair as well as disquiet in his voice while he leaned into his hand on top of the table.

The others present reluctantly agreed to the President's course of decision knowing what he said was the painful truth and the evidence of it was already in front of them, images of murdered victims by the hands of the unknown creature behind the holographic screen.

"For now, I hereby declare that no citizen must go against that being. Cooperation is required from every city, anyone who break this new law will be quarantined for the betterment of our country. Meeting adjourned, prepare for the end of the countdown and implement the new addition to the law." The President says firmly as he stood up and walked out of the conference room, followed by the others who attended, dispersing one by one until only the Sergeant was present.

He sighed as he stood up and left the boardroom as he walked in the hallways with a frown, his mind recalling back to the child he took in after prior 59 hours ago. The child was insistent on following him everywhere, too afraid to be left alone.

By the time the Sergeant returned to his apartment, it was already nighttime. He hastily unlocked his frontdoor and made his presence known by calling out to the child, removing his outdoor footwear and placing it up on the shoe rack after then he slipped on his indoor ones and went into the living room where he saw the kid sleeping on the couch, clutching the jacket he gave them to ease their anxiety even just for a little while he was away.

"Kiddo, wake up." He shook the child by the shoulder as she woke up and immediately clung to him, he prepared a small dinner for the kid and made them eat it before tucking her in bed. He then went to his office and sat on the chair behind his table, staring at the countdown.
