The moment she stepped through the door, Cate knew that something was wrong. Her eyes had always allowed her to see through all concealments, and in recent years, nothing could hide from her eyes, but in this moment, she could not see the true form of the corridors all around her. Her eyes began glowing intensely, releasing a purple light that filled the place. She was trying to see through this place, but the best she could do was see glimmers of the truth. Blood began coming out of her eyes as her head felt like it was about to explode.
She was pushing her body to the absolute limit, but she appeared completely calm. Blood began coming out of her nostrils and her mouth. Soon, she was covered in blood. She staggered and fell to her knees as she coughed up several mouthfuls of blood. "This must be Daedalus's labyrinth. Even my powerful sight cannot see through something like this. The minotaur must be involved in whatever is going on." Cate began thinking about her current situation. She got to her feet and looked around. She was in a long corridor made from thick grey blocks. The walls on each side rose to a height that could not be measured by human numbers.
She knew that it was impossible to fly over the walls and leave this labyrinth, but she still tried. Flying was a simple matter with her current magical understanding. She chanted a simple flight spell and shot through the sky at an incredible speed. The moment Galeazzo and the twins entered through the door, they entered a luxurious, golden-decorated hall. There were already hundreds of people inside. Many of them knew who Galeazzo was, and so they nodded to him in greeting, and some came over to greet him in person.
"Have you brought new prey?" someone asked Galeazzo. "I have indeed brought something that will surely entertain us this night. She is the last of the Danescu sorcerous clan," Galeazzo boasted with a bright smile on his face. The people in the hall were shaken by his declaration. At this moment, another minotaur entered the hall. He was a powerfully built figure with powerful horns on his bull head. He wore an expensive black suit that was clearly tailored to fit his massive frame.
"Many of you know who I am, but for those who have only just learned about our Omega Labyrinth, I am Asterion. I am your humble host. I hope that you leave here satisfied by our humble games," he said. Many people cheered at this. Asterion took his seat in the place of honor. His chair was no different from a throne, made from gold and other precious metals and gems. Only after he sat comfortably was the hall filled with chairs for his many guests.
These chairs were not as good as that of Asterion, but some were close. For example, the chair closest to that of Asterion was also very well made. Galeazzo took this seat, and no one objected. After all, he was from the Staranse Mage clan. The twins took the seats next to his, and soon, everyone was seated. The wall at the front of the hall fell away, with the bricks turning into water that merged with the floor and disappeared. Everyone then got a good look at the vast labyrinth before them. They thought it was endless, and even with the powerful memory that many of these supernatural beings had, they got dizzy the moment they tried to memorize the thing.
"This labyrinth is a wonder no matter how many times I see it," Galeazzo said. "Hahahahah," Asterion said. "It is indeed a wonder in this world. Still, your family has many wonders of its own." Galeazzo did not deny this. He instead smiled with pride. Asterion was not happy that Galeazzo did not save him some face, but he said nothing and did not show any of this displeasure on his face. Galeazzo was a guest of honor and one of his oldest friends.
There were nine hundred paths leading into the labyrinth, and at each entrance, there was a single person. Many of them were standing in place with confusion and fear. Cate was at one of these entrances. The hall was soon filled with large transparent screens made using magic. These magical screens showed each participant in great detail, including all the information concerning them. Cate appeared on one of the screens. Through these screens, the actions taking place in the labyrinth were even more clear.
Galeazzo and the twins looked at the screen that showed Cate's information: [Catherine Danescu. Master of the Wandering Palace and matriarch of the Danescu sorcerous clan.] The information was brief but made everything very clear. "Are you not afraid of the vengeance of the Danescu clan? Should their matriarch die in this place, they will not just sit back and watch you go about your life," Asterion asked while looking at Galeazzo. Asterion was not the only one interested in Galeazzo's answer.
"If this was one hundred years back, or even just a few decades back, I would be scared, but we are in the present. The Danescu have fallen, and the few people left in this clan are of no concern. Even with their powerful sorcery, they can do nothing to my mage clan." Many people agreed with this assessment. It was at this moment that Cate cast a spell and shot into the sky. "No one can fly out of the labyrinth. The only option for her is to go along with my designs." Galeazzo snorted at Cate's actions.
Cate reached a few hundred feet into the sky before she suddenly lost the ability to fly. She plummeted to the ground at an incredible speed, as though she was being pushed into the earth by some powerful force. Most people would scream their lungs out at this point, but Cate's face remained cold, and the rage in her eyes was rapidly growing. When Galeazzo saw this, he felt his heart skip a beat. "Have I just made a terrifying enemy for myself?" This thought crossed his mind.
