Ji Mingyaun pulled away, letting Liang Chen catch his breath. Their breathing was uneven, his lips swollen and tasting of each other. Liang Chen's eyes settled on Ji Mingyaun's; his mind raced with questions as he struggled to catch his breath. Just before he could ask more, Ji Mingyaun slightly pushed him away.
"I… am sorry," he whispered, his voice calm but unsteady. "I shouldn't be here," he added.
Liang Chen wanted to say yes, to pounce on him, punch him, and drag him outside, but the man before him wasn't the proud prince of Yelan.
Ji Mingyaun staggered to his feet, his head pounding. "K… Kang-mi," he slurred.
"My prince," the loyal servant barged in without knocking.
"Take me back," Ji Mingyaun ordered, but one look at Liang Chen and Kang-mi stepped back, disobeying his master for the first time.
"I am sorry, my prince, but I dare not," Kang-mi murmured, and before Ji Mingyaun could make meaning of his words, he had long slammed the door and left.
