Candles appeared everywhere, forming complex patterns on the ground and symbols he didn't understand blazed to life around the mirrors.
"Get me out!" Kira's voice was muffled but desperate. "Please, help me! Brother Yuta, don't leave me here! Help me!"
A new voice, cold and mocking, drifted from the shadows: "You'll save him, won't you? But remember—come alone, Sarori."
All the memories began to vibrate with rigorous intensity and the next thing Yuta heard was the sound of glass shattering.
"Human!" Yuta's eyes flew open with a gasp.
Dawn light streamed through the chamber windows. He was still in Elrien's arms on the bed, and as Elrien held his shoulder, a chill that had nothing to do with temperature crawled down his spine.
"I…I…" Yuta gasped, even now he could hear little Kira's voice echoing in his mind, the faint smell of the powders Aunt Ursula used on him lingered in the air.
Yuta jumped from the bed, ignoring the way Elrien sharply called out his name.
