Chapter 23 - The Dark Side

"A group of people appeared recently and openly challenged the Alliance!" Nurse Joy said to Taylor while treating Dratini's injuries.

Taylor was somewhat surprised after hearing this. Was there actually someone who challenged the Alliance?

You must know that since the establishment of the Alliance and its growth into a dominant authority, basically no one dared to provoke the Alliance casually.

Even a dark organization as powerful as Team Rocket could only work in the shadows.

The dark organizations in other regions were much the same. Why was it that every organization coveted a legendary Pokémon?"

It was because only by possessing those legendary Pokémon could these people have the confidence to fight against the Alliance. Otherwise, going against the Alliance would be a dead end.

But now someone actually dared to openly challenge the Alliance?

It was like looking for trouble in the dark.

Nurse Joy took out Chansey, and Chansey began to skillfully treat the injuries of the Dratini."

"Before, a Pokémon that had suffered abuse like this was thrown in front of our team's gate," Officer Jenny also arrived at this time. Looking at the bloody Dratini on the ground, Officer Jenny's face turned black.

"There's one at the Pokémon Center, and then at the League Office. I didn't expect to come to your place next," Nurse Joy breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that the Dratini's injuries had stabilized a little.

Taylor didn't look very good after hearing this.

Although there were many kind-hearted people in the Pokémon world, there were also some scumbags among them.

"Will this little guy become disabled?" Taylor looked at the Dratini. Although Nurse Joy had come over to help stabilize its injuries, the Dratini still looked very bad.

"...Time has dragged on too long. It's hard to say whether it will be a bacterial infection or not. If he can survive tonight, then it's fine. If he can't..." Nurse Joy didn't say it explicitly, but Taylor knew what she meant.

Looking at the Dratini who was twitching in pain even in a coma, Taylor sighed.

Just to provoke the Alliance, these people unscrupulously used Pokémon as bargaining chips to humiliate the Alliance.

The only good news was probably that the Alliance would definitely be responsible for the treatment of these Pokémon. After all, if these Pokémon died, it would be a greater humiliation to the Alliance.

Taylor narrowed his eyes. He didn't know about this before. It seemed that the Alliance had blocked the news.

But now that he knew it, he certainly couldn't just sit back and do nothing.

[Help the Alliance identify the criminal, reward: a random draw]

A prompt that only Taylor could see popped up, and Taylor was stunned when he saw it.

Random draw?

So could this thing help him draw magical candies?

Taylor felt some surprise. If he could draw the rare candy, he could help Bonk complete his evolution and make him an Annihilape. Then Bonk's strength would be taken to a higher level.

Even if he couldn't draw the rare candy, he could still draw something else, so it was a win anyway.

But how to help the Alliance identify the criminal was a problem.

"No, since I can see the attribute panel of this little guy, it means..." Taylor thought of something.

His Pokémon orphanage didn't mean that all Pokémon panels could be seen.

For example, the Snorlax he saw before, the big guy's panel had no visible lines.

Only those Pokémon that had been abandoned and met the criteria for abandoned Pokémon in the Pokémon orphanage could be seen by Taylor.

In that case...

Taylor exchanged for the opportunity to check, and then Taylor got the trainer information of this Dratini.

However, Taylor was not in a hurry to say anything now. After all, as the director of an orphanage, it was impossible for him to know that the trainer far away in the Hoenn region was the trainer of this Dratini.

Therefore, Taylor planned to report this news through anonymous reporting channels later.

Nurse Joy and the others hurriedly left with the Dratini. Taylor watched quietly. Then he looked at the still trembling Lucy and the bloodstains at the door of the Pokémon orphanage without saying a word.

Taylor would definitely help solve the problem of these people, but this incident also made Taylor realize that he also needed to build up the strength of the Pokémon orphanage. Otherwise, if he encountered such a thing next time, he would only be able to report it, which would be a bit unpleasant.

However, Taylor ran an orphanage after all, so it was not quite appropriate for him to run around the world every day to punish scumbags and eliminate evil.

He could try to train some Pokémon and let them go out to do these things. After all, his Pokémon orphanage has all kinds of magical effects, and he could train Pokémon much faster than others.

"Let's do this," Taylor nodded, and the Pokémon orphanage did need some armed forces to protect the little ones inside.

Taylor took the cleaning tools and began to clean the bloodstains on the ground. Some of the dark red blood had already seeped into the ground.

"Lucy, are you okay?" Taylor asked Lucy while cleaning.

This little girl, Nurse Joy, had left with her Dratini, but she still looked distracted.

"I...Mr. Taylor...didn't you say that Pokémon are our partners and family?" Lucy looked at Taylor confusedly, with some anger in her eyes.

Taylor…

I'm afraid Lucy was a little too naive. Everyone knew that the Alliance's claim, 'Pokémon are our partners and family,' was just a slogan.

Not to mention, there were some people in this world who could even abandon their own families, let alone a mere Pokémon?

For these people, Pokémon in their minds was probably the same as the wild Pokémon they saw on the street. What family, what partners? They were just toys.

It's just that the Alliance had hidden these dark sides very well. If they were not people in special industries, some ordinary people might never know about these dark things in their entire lives.

"Lucy, some people are human beings, and some people are not human beings," Taylor didn't know what to say, so he could only comfort Lucy.

But Lucy left early; she was extremely sad and upset.

For this innocent girl, what happened today was not a bad thing. The Pokémon world was not that simple.

Otherwise, why was the casualty rate of the Alliance's investigators so high?

"The methods used by those dark organizations were even more sinister, with group attacking alliances becoming a routine tactic."

This relentless violence, however, made a growing unease among trainers, who began to fear that their own Pokémon might turn against them.
